A guide to Good Torrents

1. Find out what your UPLOAD SPEED limit is.. That is the speed at which you can
SEND files to other people. It will not be the same or even close to your
advertised download speed unless you have paid a lot of cash for the T1 or balanced
connection. You can check your upload speed online here http://www.speedtest.net
A flash plug in is required on your browser. If flash is not an option then do a
google search for speed check and find a site which does not use flash.

2. Check your returned UPLOAD Speed, You will notice I have not mentioned
download speeds as that is NOT vital for good download speeds, it is the amount of
torrents you are running and the upload speed you give them which dicates that.
It is seldom that you will ever max out your download speed anyway, due mostly to
network congestion but sometime bad practise by other users on bit torrent as
well!!!

3. Your torrent client will have a way someplace of letting you either set your
maximum measured upload speed or your maximum allowed upload speed. Take 70% of
your measured upload speed and ENTER that figure in the maximum allowed upload
speed box. If you have an option to set the maximum for seeding only then you can
put in 100% for that as you are not downloading at the same time hopefully.

4. Only run 1 or at the most 2 torrents at any one time, one download and one seed
is a good mix.

5. Try not use your internet bandwidth for anything else as you download any
torrent other than at most one seed. That it and that is all. Enjoy being one of
the fastest downloaders in your area!
