DEFINITIONS:
As we all know, racism is a prejudice against everyone based on skin color.
People can discriminate by refusing to do business or by refusing to
associate with certain groups of people. Some jurisdictions have anti-
discrimination laws that prohibit governments or individuals from
discriminating on the basis of race and certain other factors in a variety of
circumstances.
Skin color is linked to racism because skin color is often used in everyday
interactions as an indicator of race. In equality law, race can mean color of
skin or nationality. It can also mean an ethnicity or nationality that may be
different from your current citizenship. For example, you can be of African
descent and live in the United States with a US passport. Race also refers to
ethnic and racial groups that share the same protective characteristics of an
ethnicity or race.
