Pet Groomer

I’ve owned and cared for animals my whole life. From owning cats to dogs, to even

ducks. Animals have made such a positive impact on my life and I know other people feel the

same about theirs. Caring and grooming for animals have been the past ten years of my life. My

main goal is to become an animal groomer so owners can feel more connected with their pets

through acts of service.

While classes in school have not helped my choice in career, my personal experience in

owning animals and caring for other’s pets throughout my childhood up to young adult has aided

my knowledge with animals. After high school, I don’t plan to continue with schooling. I plan to

move out to Royal Oak and learn hands-on at a local pet groomer called Royal Pup Parlor. Right

now, I’m employed at Little Caesars where I’ve learned useful communication skills and quick

reflexes that will help me when I eventually start grooming animals. Handling money,

coworkers, and customers while being on a tight time limit has made me more efficient in

business skills.

While I plan on applying with my high school diploma I plan on taking a quick course in

pet grooming which will get me hands-on with a teacher and animals so I have more experience

before applying. Telling me I would be working with animals five years ago, I wouldn’t be

shocked. Since animals have been such a big part of my life I’ve always known I’d be helping

them in some way. While it’s nothing like veterinarians, making sure your animal is comfortable

and clean is important and respectable. Letting owners know their animal is safe with me is a

trust I would never be able to break, and cleaning up their animals is an opportunity I’m thankful

I got.
