Hard work and discipline paid off for the author when they competed in a taekwondo competition at age 18. They dieted for 3 months and trained intensely every day, pushing through pain, to make weight. On the day of the competition, the author was nervous facing an opponent with a higher black belt degree but didn't let that discourage them. They fought their best and landed a spinning back kick, winning the gold medal. The long preparation process taught the author valuable life lessons like discipline and controlling their emotions.

When I was 18 I joined a Taekwondo Competition, In this competition, I
be at Senior Under 74Kg Prestasi, what is the most unforgettable moment about this is, where I really do much hard on this, I did the diet for 3 months to reach my weight target, and it such a struggle, I felt really hungry all the time and couldn't sleep well all the night until the day I was weighing. Besides that, I was practising hard every day, but at the moment I realize, everything I did gonna affect my destiny ahead because the effort does not betray the results. So I try harder even harder as time pass by, my sabem is motivated me all the time but sometimes made me feel tired and feel big hurts every time I practice, sabem is like the trainer in the Taekwondo world, one of the most unforgettable hurt is when I practised my split, the hurt is just unbelievable I even crying at that time. And then after all those work, I felt better with my life, where I learned a lot of things like how to discipline better, how to control emotion, etc. And finally, the day of my match has arrived, I get nervous about it, and I was shocked when I saw my opponent is black belt degree and I only blue degree at that time, but I didn’t care any about that, I just fight and gave the best that I can, and I landed a wonderful spinning back kick to my opponent and he bounced out of the arena, and in the end, I won the fight and got proud about myself, and got a gold medal that day.
