Project integration Management

Integration management is the process of efficiently connecting different


elements of the projects such as cost, scope, quality, resources and
stakeholders etc. for producing the deliverables in line with customer
expectations and organizational objectives. A project may contain several
modules and this integration between these different modules are necessary to
give the true output based on customer expectations. Project management
contains several processes from initiation to closing. Creating the project charter
is one among the crucial process in the project initiation stage.

The Project Charter

Project charter can be considered as the license document to start the project.
Project charter is created by selecting the best option in terms of cost and
effectiveness from the business case. Project charter acts as the integration
document between several modules including the customer and organization.
Project charter documents contains project goals, objectives, budget, overall
milestone, and project risks. It also does contain information regarding project
sponsor, manager and other key stakeholders. Since the project starter contains
this many crucial information, it can be considered as the initial official document
which is to be referred while starting the project. Any further modification for the
items in the project charter needs to be undergone through change control
process.

Project charter and Integration Management

Project charter should contain information from several sources. So, the one who
creates the project charter contributes to integration management. He/she need
s to analyze several business documents and make agreements between
different key stakeholders while creating the project charter. The business case
itself need to be thoroughly studied for selecting the best possible and effective
method to execute the project. The external/internal market conditions and
organization’s structure & culture will do have an effect while creating the
project charter.

Project charter is the key document which allows the project manager to get
access to various resources in the organization in terms of human resources as
well as technical resources and hence contribute to resource management also.
Since any further changes to project charter needs to undergo through change
control process, we can consider the change management process is also being
affected.

Overall, we can conclude that integration management is the key process in any
project and it connects the dots between different modules and resources.
