Extraction of Caffeine from Tea

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Weight of tea + beaker = 78.5 g

Weight of beaker = 76.5 g

Weight of tea = 2g

2. Weight of round bottom flask + crude caffeine The observer extracted the crude caffeine from the tea and
the observer obtained 0.106 g of crude caffeine. I calculated
= 165.369 g
the % recovery of the tea, and I came to the conclusion the
tea has a total weight of crude caffeine of 0.106 g, which is
5.3% of the total weight of the Tea.

Weight of crude caffeine = 0.106 g

% Recovery = 5.3%
