THE WHEEL OF LIFE ASSESSMENT

Step 1
The Wheel of Life allows you both to get a snapshot of how satisfied you are with your life. In
this version of the exercise there are ten pre-defined domains on the wheel:

■ Money & Finance

■ Career & Work
■ Health & Fitness
■ Fun & Recreation
■ Environment
■ Community
■ Family & Friends
■ Partner & Love
■ Growth & Learning
■ Spirituality

Step 2
Rate your level of satisfaction in each of the domains using the wheel on the next page. A score
of 1 indicates that you are not satisfied at all and a score of 10 means you are highly satisfied.

Step 3
Now, connect the lines to form an inner wheel. This will give you an overview of the level of
satisfaction overall inlife. For an example of a completed wheel, see page 6

Step 4
Pick 3 areas that are critical for you to address in 2021

Step 5
Once a domain is selected, ask yourself the following questions for each domain:

■ Why does this domain need attention? Ask this three times to hit your emotional core.
When your emotion is triggered, you are more motivated to act on it.

■ If you do not take action what will be the consequence?

■ What specific steps can you take to raise your satisfaction in this domain?

It is recommended that you write the answers on a separate sheet. Go as detailed as possible.

YOUR DAILY PLAN

For your daily plan to be productive, divide your activities into two parts:

Maintain

These activities help you run your life efficiently at the current level e.g. Workout,
Yoga, routine business meetings, buying grocery, calling a friend, watching movie with
family, playing with kids etc.

Grow
These activities help you move forward in life e.g. Reading, connecting to new people,
daily planning, learning a new skill, planning a dream family vacation, writing content
for social media, acquiring clients that you will take you to the next level etc.

ADD INTENSITY TO YOUR ACTION

How many times you started something but lost track in between because of a phone
call or an email? How frequently you drift to thinking something that slows down your
action.

Therefore, when you plan the day also keep in mind what you will not do while
performing an important task e.g.

WHILE DOING THIS I WILL NOT DO

1. While reading the book and marking down 1. I will not touch my mobile, check Whatsapp
the lessons messages or respond to emails

2. While attending my board meeting I will 2. I will turn off mobile phone and keep it in my
carry a notepad and pen laptop bag

3. While planning my daily schedule in my 3. I will bolt the room and not entertain any
daily planner visitors

4. While playing badminton with my son 4. I will leave mobile phone home

It’s recommended that you invest at least 15 minutes planning your day. Be thoughtful
about utilizing the day optimally. Else, it will act as another To Do List.

Initially, you would notice your day is filled with more of ‘Maintain’ activities. This will
create awareness that you have been missing on growth and would inspire you to add
‘Grow’ activities to your schedule.

While filling the planner, you will have a strong urge not to fill ‘While doing this…. I will
not do’ part. Don’t listen to your mind. Every time you fill it (even if it’s repeated and
boring) you are making a commitment to get more out of your time.

Good luck!
