Cultural Belonging
I am German and Scottish. My ancestors emigrated from Scotland and
Germany to America. Germans are known widely for Oktoberfest,
cathedrals, and museums. Oktoberfest is a festival that celebrated the
marriage of King Louis I. While Scotland is known for it’s landscape,
castles, and bagpipes.

Cultural Belonging
Aside from being German and
Scottish, my family has been in
America for a long time. My Dad’s
side of the family is mostly from
Texas while my Mom’s side is from
California. My Grandma’s family
moved to Nevada and that is how I
ended up being born here but I lived
in Oregon and Texas for most of my
life.
Family celebrations, events, foods and holidays
My family unfortunately has been separated since I was young and does
not do much in the way of holidays and events. Our traditions are fairly
basic in the sense that we celebrate the usual holidays such as
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. On New Years
day we have black eyed peas to bring us prosperity in the new year
which is typically more seen in the south. On St. Patrick’s Day we have
corned beef and cabbage.
Critical Life Experiences/Era
I feel that one of my most critical We’re living in the twenty-first
life experiences was my parents century, full of technology, ease of
splitting up and having to move to access to almost anything and an

doing that I would not have met
my partner and his family and
been able to experience their
culture.
Education, Interests, Hobbies
For my education I attended public
schools in Oregon and throughout
Texas. And then onto community
college, I received A’s and B’s
throughout school. I was also in
marching band, choir, and theatre. I
learned how to play the saxophone
in school and participated in many
concerts, plays, and musicals. As far
as hobbies, I enjoy watching movies,
reading, puzzles, and board games. I
included a picture from my role as
Mrs.Paroo in The Music Man.
Worldview
I consider myself to be a Christian so I feel that a lot of my
choices are based off of that. I believe that we were all
created equally and no one is without faults. At the end of
the day we are all human and have our weaknesses. I try to
always be as understanding and as accepting as possible. I
believe that everyone should get second chances. As I was
researching biases I found one that I feel suites me very
well. It is called the Optimism Bias and it is when we tend
to be too optimistic for our own good and we think negative
events wont happen to us. A long term goal of mine is to get
my bachelors degree for teaching in next five years.
