Q.1. A vessel of L 200 m, MCTC 300 tm, TPC 35 t, COF 5 m aft of amidship is floating with draft fwd 7.0 m and aft
11.0 m. (a) Calculate her present hydrostatic draft. (b) If space available for loading in No.1 LH (HG 80 m fwd) and
No. 4 LH (HG 30 m aft), calculate how much cargo can be loaded in these two spaces to finish at a hydrostatic draft of
9.6 m, with a trim 2 m by stern. (c) Find final drafts fwd and aft.

Q.2. M.V. Hindship in condition no. 7 is listed 3 0 to port. No. 7 DB tank stbd is then filled with DO, cg 3.8 m from CL.
Calculate her final list.

Q. 3. Make a labelled diagram of a semi-balanced rudder of a modern ship. How is it different from balanced rudder.

Q.4. (a) What are the special areas as per MARPOL Annex V. (b) Describe various categories of garbage and briefly
elaborate the restrictions in both ‘Special Areas’ and ‘Other than Special Areas’ for disposal of various categories of
garbage.

Q.5. Define the following: (a) Angle of loll, (b) Reserve buoyance, (c) Light displacement, (d) Block coefficient, (e)
Fresh water allowance.

Q. 6. Describe briefly any two “man-overboard maneuvers” described in IAMSAR Manual.

Q.7. (a) What are the duties of a safety officer on-board? (b) Being a safety officer on-board, what safety precautions
will you observe during electric arc welding operation on board?

Q.8. Sketch and define following terms: (a) Camber, (b) Flare, (c) Sheer, (d) Rise of Floor, (e) Parallel body length.
