The Legend of Coban Rondo
Once upon a time there lived a just married couple, Dewi Anjarwati from Kawi
mountain and Raden Baron Kusuma from Anjasmoro mountain who wanted to go for honey
moon.
Because of before selapan (40 days) marriage, their parents forbade them to go.
However, they insisted on leaving and facing any possibilities that might happen. On the
way, they were surprised by the appearance of Joko Lelono, who was not clear where he
came from. It seemed Joko lelono fell in love with her and tried to grab her away.
The fighting was inevitable. Raden Baron asked his punokawan (servant) who
accompanied them to hide dewi Anjarwati at the place where there was coban (water fall).
The tough fighting caused both of them passed away. And Dewi Anjarwati became rondo
(widow).

Since then, Coban Rondo was the place where Dewi Anjarwati had been waiting for
his beloved husband. It is believed that the big stone under the water fall was the place
where Dewi Anjarwati sat on.

Our Trip to Bromo Mountain

On the last weekend, I went to Bromo Mountains with my classmates. We went there by
car on Friday evening. We stayed at Della’s house about 10 KM from the mountains. It has a big
garden with lots of colourful flowers and a tennis court.

On Saturday the early morning we continued our trip to Bromo. It took less than one hour.
We arrived there at about 4 a.m. It was so cool there. We were still anthusiastic to climb to the
spot. We were happy because it was bright at that time so we could see beautiful sunrise. We did
not forget to take some pictures together. There were many horses in Bromo. I wanted to ride a
horse but I worried. So I asked my friend to ride it togehter with me. It was my first experience
riding a horse. And it was challenging but amazing.

At about 9 a.m. we went home. That was very pleasent moment with my classmates that I
have ever got.

The Generic structures

 Orientation : It gives the readers the background information needed to understand the text,
such as who was involved, where it happened, and when it happened.
 Events : A series of events, ordered in a chronological sequences
 Re-orientation :A personal comment about the event or what happened in the end.

The Characteristics / Language Feature of Recount Text:

 Using the simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect
continuous tense.
 Using temporal sequence, e.g. On Saturday. On Monday, On Sunday
 Focus on specific participant, e.g. I (the writer)

Read the text!

A thief

Three days ago, I went to the traditional market to buy some fruits and vegetables. In that market,
I saw an accident, there was a thief beaten by a lot of people. It was so terrible. I didn’t want to
take closer and see. A few minutes later, police came and took him.

I asked to the fruit seller what had happened actually and she said that the thief tried to steal
someone’s wallet but he was unlucky. Someone saw him and shouted loudly and suddenly some
people roughed him up hardly.

It was a pity event and I hoped it would never happen again.

UNIT VI
HOW TO MAKE PANCAKE

INGREDIENTS :

 3 – 4 spoonful of flour

 2 eggs

 250 ml full cream milk

 1 stick of butter

 Honey as topping

PROCEDURE :
 Put the flour in the bowl.
 Pour the milk in the bowl. Tools:
 Break the 2 eggs into the bowl.  1 mixing bowl
 Mix it with a spoon.  2 table spoons
 Heat up the pan and put the butter  2 cups
 Pour the dough adequately in the pan.  1 small pan
 Wait until 5 minutes  1 plate
 Flip the pancake over when the top is brown.
 Your pancake its ready to be served

Language Feature of Procedure Text:

– Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction (e.g: first, second, third, the last)
– Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash
the tomatoes. . . )
– Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for example,
for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
– Using action verbs, e.g : make, take, boil, cook
– Using Simple Present Tense

Definition of Imperative Sentence:


The sentence which is used to convey a command, a request, or a forbiddance is called
an imperative sentence. This type of sentence always takes the second person (you) for
the subject but most of the time the subject remains hidden

Examples:

o Bring me a glass of water.


o Don’t ever touch my phone.
o Boil water
o Pour water into a cup
o Remember me when we are parted.
o Don’t be excited about everything without reason.
o Don’t rush or you will fall.
o Read a lot to improve your writing skill.
o Don’t stay out at night.
o Please open the door quickly.
