Mandala Art

The Buddhist monks spread Buddhism to other countries as they crossed the Silk Road, an
ancient line of trade routes connecting East and West. The monks carried mandalas with them
all and spread the practise of painting these mystical compositions throughout Asia by the
fourth century, with mandalas emerging in Tibet, China, and Japan. Despite their origins in
Buddhism, mandalas have now found their way into Hinduism as well as other religious
