Conceptual Framework

This chapter presents an overview of previous work on related topics that provide the

necessary background for the purpose of this research and which set context of the research.

Related Literature and Studies

This section consists of information gathered from thesis, dissertations, and other literature

which are also relevant to the topic of this research.

Foreign Literature and Studies

Hyther Nizam (2016), said that there are three benefits of running a business online. First, an

online business is affordable. It is because a person can get all the features of installed business

software at a low cost. Second, it is scalable. And lastly, is saves time for the reason that one

characteristic of the internet is its speed that makes every work in your online business faster.

According to Kimanzi Constable (2016), there are too many online businesses that don’t make

money. Three billion people log onto internet everyday , and it is growing by 8% every year that

makes a tremendous opportunity to get an exposure for a business and services online. Still,
most online businesses don’t make money for the reason that they tend to forget a simple concept

that predates the Internet: practical and tangible. You should know the target audience of your

business. You’ll get clarity on what you will offer and that can lead to significant income. You can

come up to practical products and services that will help a group of people. By this, you can make

your online business earn some money.

Peter Voogd (2015), explains that the explosive growth of Internet has already changed the

perception of traditional way of doing business. There are numerous tech giants that created

domination in their areas. Online businesses have the unique ability to grow exponentially because

they present endless possibilities and upside. Creating an online business is not easy because it

take risks. Voogd gave five reasons why an online business is the shortest route to financial

freedom. First reason is scalability and exponential growth, scalability is an essential for taking your

business to the next level. Second, time over money. The internet doesn’t provide shortcuts to

those who leverage its benefits. Third, creating raving fans and loyal advocates. It means that your

supporters go out their way to promote or suggest your product to anyone, not because you told

them to but because they wanted to. Fourth, maximize your time. It is not about working smarter it

is about working right. And fifth, there will never be a perfect time to take an action and start an

online business. Waiting for the right time might lead to regrets. Take an action right away.

Based on the study of Maya Demishkevich of Walden University, she states that small

business owners need strategies on using the internet to promote his/her product. By engaging in

Internet marketing strategy planning, acquiring specialized Internet marketing knowledge,

measuring marketing performance, and extending their Internal marketing resources through

outsourcing, small business owners may develop and implement successful online marketing

8
strategies.

Study conducted by Deborah M. Markley et. al. Increased access to and use of internet

transformed the way the companies do business work. Some U.S. Business finds they are no

longer constrained by geographic location, through online business they are more easily accessed,

that never before been achieved by the past centuries. For small business owners, this online

advertisements represents a double-edged sword. Business can easily access potential

costumers, markets and serve new costumers through the effective use online business, by this

smaller companies will encounter more competitions with bigger companies and well-established

companies, like amazon.com. With this competitive e-environment companies will be triggered to

adopt innovation and understand e-marketing strategies to remain competent.

State of Government of Victoria conducted a study with the founder of Melbourne-based

Cupcake Central, Sheryl Thai, combined her two great loves - cupcakes and IT - to create a

business which thrives through an online community she strategically set out to create. From

employee to business owner 'I was an IT consultant for a global consultancy firm when I went to

New York and decided to visit a place I'd read about - The Magnolia Bakery,' she says. 'I ordered

one of their sweet vanilla cupcakes and took my first bite. In that moment my passion was

ignited. So, when her boss told her she no longer had a job in IT, Sheryl decided to start her own

business, making and selling cupcakes from home. Requests from friends turned in to orders. And

orders turned into an online business – cupcakecentral.com.au External link (opens in same

window). Within ten months, she was taking so many orders; she decided to open her first store

with her partner, Thin Neu. Right from the start, with virtually no money for marketing, I knew that

social media and developing a loyal online community would be key to my success,' she says. 'We

9
use every social media channel we can,' she says. 'About 30 per cent of our sales are from online

and the only real cost is my time.Measure return on investment as best you can, for every $500

she spends on an online promotion, Sheryl expects to return three or four times that amount in

sales. I’m very conscious of engaging with my online community,' Sheryl says. 'We post new things

on a daily basis to keep our regulars coming back and offer new customers something different.

'Through our online community, we're all about building a brand that isn't just about cupcakes but

the whole experience. The Cupcake Central website is loaded with features. Instagram lets

customers share their photos, Sheryl posts a regular YouTube video with baking tips, Facebook

offers great access and interaction, she sells gift boxes and corporate packages, and runs regular

themed promotions. Due to this, 30 per cent of sales are online. (business victoria Dec. 21, 2015;

How to build an online community for your small business )

Local Literature and Studies

Billy Ramirez (2016), differentiate the traditional business and online business in the

Philippines. Online business becomes a new trend in the Philippines, there are several people and

start-up companies who are reigning their success. A traditional business is the common practice

of doing business. It is doing the transaction face to face or personally. Online business is way too

different for it can run virtually and automatically. It can manage to assist thousands of costumers

by a single person unlike in traditional business that it should be within a specific area and it can

only accommodate certain number customers. Online businesses can provide its owner a freedom

because you can enjoy doing other thing while running your business. With these good benefits of

online business, it is still subject to hacker’s and virus attack, theft, and fraud. Traditional and

online business have in common, it both need a lot of work and process to be done at the start.

10
Francisco J. Colayco, networking has been successful in a number of companies, it has

also been abused and twisted to the detriment of those who join with mistaken notion that

networking is a sure way to make money. Many believed that they will get money without doing

much. If you look closely, in established companies, the network who make good money are those

who work hard and are able to organize their own effective sales group who the produce sustain

high level of sales. To be brief, the most common type of networking structure that has been

abused is the “multilevel” type where net workers earn income from the production of those whom

they recruit and who fall under their specific structure, usually called their business center, these

are called their down-lines and each down-line is given his won business center. This type and its

other variations are not necessarily scams. As a system, it is a legitimate tool. However when it is

used to generate business through people recruitment without offering any real product or service

to the members and their costumers, it is pyramiding and is a scam.

According to Jomer Gregorio owner of Digital Marketing Philippines, states the

opportunities for social media marketing, that many people are engage with social media. Using

the social media platforms for marketing have big opportunity for digital marketing as a whole,

when you use the social media for marketing you ca develop the brand awareness by showing,

connecting or interacting with potential costumers. Developing this connection with the potential

costumers is crucial for influencing to engage on what you are trying to sell, as 89% do read what

other people post or comment about a particular brand, product or service.

The study that conducted by Mastercard on 2014 stated that more Filipinos choosing to

shop online, because Filipinos sees more convenient shopping online than shopping at a actual

11
mall center. They showed that about three in every five of the online population in the Philippines

who access internet to shop.

Synthesis

Our synthesis on the studies and literature that we found is that they are all stating that

people nowadays is completely engaged in the internet. People now, prefer doing different things

in the internet, so some people make this as an advantage, or as an opportunity rather, to make a

business in the internet.

Conceptual Framework

The study used the scientific approach to discuss the research. It is based on empirical or

measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning. This approach will help the

researchers in discussing the flow of the study. The researchers used three frames which has the

input, process, and the output.

The first frame which is the input contains the significant variables like the demographic

profiles of the respondent, some relevant relationships, and the perceptions of the selected senior

high school students in Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City.

The following frame contains the process. This is where the methodologies or the

procedures that the researches will use in order to gather and analyze data with the use of survey

questionnaires.

12
The last frame contains the output. This shows the assessment and recommendations in

the study.

Theoretical Framework

All the importance and variety of online business have these processes according to Mohapatra

(2012) can be grouped into three primary processes groups production processes (procurement,

ordering and replenishment of stocks;payments;electronic links with suppliers; production control

processes); customer-focused processes (promotion and marketing, processing of

13
costumer`purchase orders and payments, customer support); and internal management processes

(employee,services, training ,internal,information-sharing,video-conferencing,recruiting.)

According to Procedia-Social and Behavioral Sciences (2015) one of the most significant

trends in the past decades is the growing use of the Internet and communication technologies

(ICT). Internet and associated technologies have a major impact on the way organizations conduct

business. Internet technologies and online business provide new opportunities for companies to

complete in the global market and play a major role in the world`s economy. Despite the significant

studies in the field of online business, it requires more comprehensive analysis in exploring online

business competitiveness and indicators which enable to measure online business competitive

capacities. The paper aims to develop a theoretical framework of online business competitiveness.

After analysis of e-commerce as one of the most important activities of online business is

presented. This model includes four different but interrelated levels of analysis: company level,

industry level, country level, and global level.

Hypothesis

There is no significant perception of the T.I.P SHS Students on seeing their selves engaging

in this type business.

Business toward Future Entrepreneurship.

Conclusions

28
Based on the findings on the study, the following are the conclusion that were drawn

1.Respondent’s profile

1.1. The highest number of respondents based on their age would be 17 years old with a total

number of 130 or 60.19% of respondents out of 216, because we conducted the survey with the

grade 11 senior high school so there were a big possibility we will encounter a 17 year old student.

1.2. The highest number of respondents based on their gender would be female with 132 or

61.11% respondents out of 216, because most of the ABM students enrolled are females so there

were a bigger chance that we will take females respondents.

2. Factors that affects in considering in engaging in online business toward future

entrepreneurship.

2.1. Accessibility, it comes with internet connection and gadgets, which makes engaging in online

business and running it easier. That made many of the respondents agreed to it.

2.2. Credibility of online business. Many of the respondents agreed on the credibility of the online

businesses. The respondents considered the factor of the credibility of the online business

because in today’s society security is a must.

2.3. Many of the respondents agreed that online business can be stable. This may be affected by

the technological based era.

3. Online business in the future entrepreneurship.

3.1. Many of the respondents agreed that online business will still be processing in the future,

29
3.2. Many of the respondents considered making online business a full- time, because of its

convenience and accessibility.

3.3. Many of the respondents answered agree, if online business can full fill their financial needs in

the future. This is a strong factor that can change the minds of a businessman/woman in engaging

in online business or in general business also. This is because who would get engaged in

something that they will not get revenues.

Recommendations

Based on the conclusion made in the study the following recommendations were made:

1. Respondents Profile

1.1 The age bracket should be based on the majority of the senior high school students who

are capable to bear the consideration based on their perception in engaging in Online

Business toward future entrepreneurship.

1.2 The researcher should come up to a questionnaire that will be equal to the side of both

genders.

2. Online Business for Future Entrepreneurship

Our research concluded that the respondents response is agree in all of the variables.

Senior High School Students, especially in the strand of ABM should consider in engaging

their selves in Online business or making their own Online business.
