技术类：
1. Can you explain p-value to a business people who doesn't have any
statistical background? (similar to that, they could ask explain variance, mean,
mode & median, etc)

2. How to test if a coin is a fair coin?

3. What's the difference between logistic regression and linear

regression?

4. If your sql query is running slow, how will you optimize your query?

5. What's the difference among left join, right join and inner join, full join?

6. If you were to design an experiment to test whether should we do an video

ads on our website, how will you do that?

7. What's the assumption of linear regression?

8. When you search something or buy something on Amazon, it shows you other
recommended items, how do you think this recommendation system works? (In other
words, if you were to build this recommendation system, what modeling methods will
you use?)

跟 business 相关的：

1. What experience you have related to statistics? Describe to me what obstacles

you meet and how you deal with it?
2. Have you ever had a hard deadline and didn't meet it? How do you avoid that
situation happen again?

3. Do you have team working experience before? How do you deal with conflicts or
different opinions?

然后谈谈统计相关专业可以找哪些工作，统计专业的就业面还是很广的。楼主知 道 的 有
marketing analyst, finance analyst, data analyst, quality assurance, data scientist, risk

analyst, pricing analyst, clinical trial statistician，etc. 不同 title 对相关的技术要求非常不一

样，楼主就我知道的谈谈吧，重点谈 data analyst 或者 data scientist，其它职位我都有同学在
做，自己不是特别深入了解，如果说错了欢迎指出哈。

1. marketing analyst。这个职位通常是需要用统计的方法去分析不同的 data，包括

survey data，transaction data（就是什么时候搞 promotion，要不要搞，怎样搞），对
design of experience 要求比较高，统计软件很多 marketing 公司都是用 sas。

2. finance analyst, risk analyst 楼主认识的大部分都是数学或者统计

master 背景，各种 regression 用得都很熟，我听说的公司都是用 sas。

3. 保险公司或者银行里的 stastician。楼主有不少同学都做这种职位，据说 80%以上的时

间都在 clean data。面试的时候最喜欢问 p-value 的就是这些公司，还有其它一些基础的统计
问题。听说的公司也都是用 sas。

4. quality assurance engineer，这个是统计里面做 quality control 这一部分，一般都是

在大的工程公司或者咨询公司里面，比如 cumins, eastman, deloitte 等等。用的软件有
minicab， matlab, spss 等等，各种 control bound, 这啊那的 distribution 和曲线。现在都在考
six sigma certification。

5. clinical trial。药厂的统计师，很多生物转统计的去了药厂做 statistician。 对 sas 要求比

较高，最好懂一点 clinical trial 相关的知识。

6. data science。现在很热的一个 title，我所见到的 data scientist 大概分为两种，一种是

analytical 的，一种是 engineer 的。analytical 的就是用 sql 倒腾 data，用 R 或者 python 做一些
分析或者建模，然后 visualize 结果给 business owner。这种职位对技术的要求不是特别高，但是
会对 business sense 有比较高的要求。面试的时候很喜欢问一些 real business case，看你的思路
和分析解决商业问题的能力。engineer 的职位对 technical 的要求会比较高，一般面试要面你的
coding，modeling， machine learning 方面的问题。这些高 technical 的职位我知道的都是
phd 在做，比较好玩的一点是 linked in 里面一半做这个的都是物理 phd。CS phd，数学
phd， 统计 phd 做这个的也不少。
