Characteristics of Science

Characteristics of Science
Science is born because humans are equipped by
God with an inquisitive nature. according to
Naramon in Nazir (2003), science covers a very broad
field,
covers all aspects of human progress as a whole.
Inside it
including knowledge that has been systematically
formulated through observation
and continuous experimentation, which has resulted
in the discovery of the truth
of a general nature.
Harsoyo (1977), suggests that there
are 3 characteristics of science,
namely:
rational, empirical, and general:

1. Be Rational
The result of the thinking process is the result of
the use of reason (ratio)
objective.
Example:
• The use of participatory learning can foster
creativity in
students, because in practice each student is
given the opportunity to
express opinions/ideas, or in making decisions
2. Empirical
Knowledge is obtained from and around experience
by the five senses, knowledge is not
abstract. Based on life experience and research can
produce knowledge.
Example:
• The use of participatory learning is based on the
observation that
the activity and creativity of students is very
satisfying, because every student
given the opportunity to participate in various aspects
3. General
The results of science can be used by all humans
without exception. Science is not
can only be used for certain areas, but knowledge can
be used
macro without being limited by space.
Example:
• Use of participatory learning models or cooperative
learning
not only used by a teacher in certain subjects, but
can also be used by other teachers in different
subjects
