i. Introductory Statement

P.N. Composite Ltd is one of the leading textile manufacturers in Bangladesh, particularly. The
company offers customers regarding textile and garment demand through their full range of
equipment stretching from providing products from knitting, dyeing, sewing, printing up to
packing, providing a complete composite solution. The company was incorporated on the
August of 2004, and was commenced on August of 2006. The organization is a private limited
company managed by Mr. Tapan Kumar Saha and Mr. Ashis Kumar Saha as the director of
the company. Moreover, the organization have five major departments which include
Operation department managed by Mr. Ranjan Bhattacharjee who is in charge of the factory,
Human Resources department which is managed by Mr. Anthony N. Rozario as Deputy
General Manager, Compliance department is run by Ms. Fahima Akhter Nipa as Manager of
Compliance and CSR, and finally the Administration department is controlled by Md.
Khaleduzzaman as Assistant Manager and Mr. Palash as admin (Company profile, 2019).

ii. History/Development

On the year 2004, P.N Composite Ltd started as small garments factory right outside the main
city of Dhaka in Ambagh Konabari, Gazipur that focused mainly on manufacturing local
garments to sell and trade to the local market and buyers of Dhaka. Within a year, the
organization have worked tremendously and met with all of their company vision and made
outstanding works that concluded to customer’s satisfaction. After 2 years, Mr. Tapan Kumar
Saha and Mr. Ashis Kumar Saha made their breakthrough by opening their first garments
factory and dyeing house with 250 million BDT as authorized capital. The company has been
successful in the recent year and keep developing due to its vision, employee’s engagement
and mainly everyone involvement toward the company success over personal success. Mr.
Tapan Kumar Saha has placed well established employee training program with qualified and
highly rated experts in company departments. This investment and efforts is to encourage,
motivate and boost employee’s abilities to ensure offering added value and satisfactory job to
customers than any other industrial competitors. As of now the valuation of the company is
over 500 million BDT with annual turnover of approximately 50 million USD (Company
profile, 2019).

The organization has recently completed their new project of PRS Textiles which is a
remarkable manufacturing unit is located in Narayanganj, 30 kilometres from Dhaka city centre
with area of 50,000 Sq. Ft with investment of 30million USD. Their current project which is
almost complete is the Beam Dyeing, Central Warehouse at PNCL. PNCL is an echo friendly
venture & this remarkable manufacturing unit is located in Konabari, Gazipur, 30 kilometres
from Dhaka city centre with the investment of 50 million BDT and to be completed by the next
year on 2022. PNCL integrating a holistic approach towards Sustainability. This project will
be followed the principles of the U.S. “LEED” and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
And lastly, their upcoming project of PNKL will be located in Konabari, Gazipur and will be
established 100% export oriented Ready Made Garment along with modern embellishment
facilities. It will be with the area of 250000 Sq. Ft and investment of 50 million USD to
completed by 2025 (P.N Composite Ltd, 2021).

iii. Purpose/ Philosophy

The purpose and philosophy of P.N Composite Ltd is to become and lead the Garments and
Dyeing industry in Bangladesh by maintaining an Eco Friendly System and Environment. The
company’s goal is to be amongst the top garments manufacturing company not just in
Bangladesh but around the globe that understand and serve better customers than any other
garments manufacturing company with the best quality, fabulous working environment and
constant on time delivery (Company profile, 2019).

The company’s mission statement is "Customer satisfaction and commitment with trends”.
And their main focus is PET, which elaborates to P: The best quality Product, E: Future best
working Environment, T: Working together as a Team to achieve goal. The vision and goal
of the organization is “On time delivery with quality products” (P.N Composite Ltd, 2021).

Business is always has been dynamic and diversification process. P.N Composite Ltd takes the
opportunity to step new dimension to textile knit composite with the state of the art of modern
machineries and manufacturing of all type knit jersey products under a single roof.
Team P.N. Manufacture world-class products of outstanding quality that gives valuable
customers a competitive advance through superior products and value, team P.N. make every
customer Satisfaction. The team are also successfully materializing the dreams with each step
towards a new direction , holding themselves ready to meet the future challenges for the world

renowned buyers. Team P.N. reasonable and accountable to all concerned with whom deal;
business associates, respectable customers and employees (Company profile, 2019).
iv. Personnel

During the 3 months of my internship Ms. Fahima Akhter (Nipa) was not only my supervisor
but my mentor for my entire corporate and industrial attachment program under the
requirements of my BA (Hons) in Business Management, who is the Manager of Audit
Compliance. However, I was in contact almost on a regular basis with Md. Khaleduzzaman
who is the assistant manager of Administration department, Mr. Palash who is in the admin of
Administration department, and with Mr. Ranjan Bhattacharjee who is the General Manager
of the operation department whenever I had to go to the factory. All individuals are fulltime
employees and key members of P.N Composite Ltd (P.N Composite Ltd, 2021).

v. Services

P.N. Composite Ltd. is 100% export oriented vertical industry & a well-recognized name in
textile industry. The company’s Textile World of production include knitting over 25,000kg
fabrics per day, dyeing fabrics over 40,000kg per day, all over printing over 10,000kg per day,
washing over 15,000 pieces per day, auto printing of 50,000 pieces per day and embroidery of
1 million stitches per day. Their Readymade Garments World production consist of 40,000
pieces of basic garments per day, 20,000 pieces of casual garments per day, 10,000 pieces of
jacket/ polo shirts/ fashion trend garments per day. The company has a total of 36 number of
production lines with products ranging from basic t-shirt, tank tops, polo shirts, sweat jacket,
sweatshirt, joggers and all denim garment products. Furthermore, the organization has a lead
time from approval to ready to inspection of 25-75days. Their lead time for shipping to USA/
Canada by sea within 30-45days and by air within 3-7days, to Europe by sea within 21-35days
and by air within 2-5days, and to Asia by sea within 15-21days (Company profile, 2019).

vi. Clientele

P.N. Composite Ltd. is a well-recognized 100% export oriented vertically integrated garments
and textile industry. The organization only supplies its products to international wholesale
buyers and foreign branded companies. P.N Composite Ltd does not supplies their product to
other retailers or customers locally. It has very strict restricted type of customers as they want

to keep their standards, quality and goodwill very high. The organization requires highly
renowned and large amount of orders to keep up with their own policies and structures of the
business (Company profile, 2019).

vii. Funding

P.N Composite Ltd has two main sources of funding. Mr. Tapan Kumar Saha and Mr. Ashis
Kumar Saha who are Managing Director and Director of the company invested 50% of the
capital of the company equally. In addition to that, the rest of the capital invested was taken as
bank loan from Export Import Bank of Bangladesh Ltd which the company has to pay 9% of
annual interest. P.N Composite Ltd also sends out LC to the bank for every large quantity order
for loan to cover production costs. The major spending of the investment was to build the
factory along with the land value, production cost, employee wages and delivery costs (P.N
Composite Ltd, 2021).

viii. Problem Areas

During my 3 months of working as an intern at P.N Composite Ltd, I believe the major issue
that the company is facing is not in the production department but in the corporate managerial
department. With high number of orders, the employees tend to have a lot of work on their
desks, but due to lack of managerial expertise in the workplace employees and the managers
don’t ever get their work done on time. Lack of managerial skills comes from the top level all
the way down to the employees. As per my observation, almost every single day all the
employees including the managing director leaves their office after their working hours. This
occurs due to lack of communication and understanding between employees and managers,
and lack of planning before every work. However, the board did take actions for this issue by
employing assistant managers for every department to manage the works for each department
much smoothly. Although this initiative worked well for the organization, but I believe with a
much better change between employees and managers in communication and interaction would
really benefit in this kind of busy workplace.

ix. Summary of Experience

During the 3 months of my internship working at P.N Composite Ltd, I have significantly
developed my skills working with the Audit & Compliance Team. These skills includes:
managing compliance related activities, strategic management, data entries, risk assessment,
audit reviews, plan development, on time reporting, agreement preparation, managing and
conducting presentation, commitment, work ethics authority and responsibility over a team,
adhering organisation policies, interaction with suppliers and clients and implementing
professional Microsoft excel dashboard, accountability, time management, problem solving,
teamwork and individual work. Moreover, I have also learned, improved and gained experience
on recruiting, interviewing and managing teams by working closely and assisting the human
resource department manager Mr. Anthony N. Rozario. Therefore, I am extremely certain that
these abilities will facilitate my future work, and boost my confidence in the corporate world
which shall aid me to develop vital knowledge of the industry standard, business processes and
tactics and also how to effectively manage and be a useful and valuable member of the
organization that I work for.

x. Results/ Conclusion

Students studying for their degrees are quite focused and concentrated. All these hard work
benefits when these studies are being implemented to the work life. Everyone wishes to get
these kind of experiences. As the time has evolved, company’s tend to prefer better practical
experience than theory based and coursed based studies because ultimately that is the main
objective of the organization to hire people with experience in the real world . The 13 weeks
that I have worked as an intern at P.N Composite Ltd, it was like a training program which
gave me the opportunity to apply the classroom studies of theoretical knowledge that I have
gained to put into action by working with advanced professionals in a real working world. I
believe this internship was very beneficial and important to me, and also crucial for any
students for their career. Almost all organizations have internship and training programs for
fresh graduates with zero work experience to be familiar with working in the company. Thus,
this approach demonstrates the importance of industry compliance. In the future, universities
need to offer students internship programs before graduation, working with public and private
companies that can help students learn more and improve their knowledge and skills.

Furthermore, the career advisor of the institution should visit students during the internship to
motivate, encourage, and monitor their progress accurately. Conduct training arbitrarily in all
departments for the benefit of the students.
