Most Common Band EPR Mistakes:

- Rater starting too late writing the EPR; this puts us all in a rush at the last minute and
doesn’t properly take care of your troop.  Remember, the CC, two CCSs, CCF, Mr. Wise
and I have to look at every EPR, not just the one you write.  Often, Chief Sirois and Col
O’Neill have to review our EPRs as well.  Give us time to do our jobs.

- Not using spell check (you have to click the icon at the top for each page/both sides
individually)

- Use two spaces after a colon; one space after a semi-colon.

- Incorrect info; copy the RIP exactly as stated (unless the RIP is wrong then have Dave
Wise/Bob/me correct it)

- Signing on the same date or before the close out date (COD); you have to sign an EPR
at least one day after the COD.
- Using acronyms such as CB, JB, WQ, RB on the back side when you didn’t identify them on the
front side.  You must say something like Afterburn rock band (RB) or concert (CB) before you can
use these abbreviations later.

- No two-line bullets!  No three-line bullets!  Use sub-bullets if necessary.

- No results or impact to bullets.  Give us somehitng in this order:

-- Action verb (what he/she did); impact (saved $2M); results (increased TDYs or Ops
32%)

- Don’t use music-only terminology; we all know the musical terms, but Joe Air Force doesn’t.
Describe our musical duties/performances/responsibilities/etc. in everyday language.

- Not filling the white space.  Fill the spaces; Unless you are supervising a dog.

- Don’t use the words ‘ready for promotion’ in your last line unless you’re giving the ratee a 4 EPR
(look at the top of the second page at the headings for promotion reccomendation.)

- Using the wrong forms; check with AF Pubs often for EPR form updates (very easy to do
online.)

- More to come as I remember them!!!

Suggestion: keep monthly records on all folks you supervise and use this for your EPR; don’t wait
until EPR time to figure out what they did; that’s too late.
