ABOUT US

Association of Leather Technologists (ALT) is an association by and for the students at the department of
leather technology, AC Tech, Anna University, Chennai. The Department of Leather Technology (DLT) is
housed at the campus of world renowned Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI). The DLT has
stepped into the 75th year in 2020. It’s a proud moment to commemorate the departmental Platinum
Jubilee celebrations. The uniqueness of the DLT stands owing to the strong coexistence of Research-
Academia-Industry as a trinity treasure.

ALT takes effort in every diverse way possible to keep the students in the department occupied with the
events throughout the year in the course. Apart from the curriculum, focusing on developing the
internal abilities of the students, “PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM” is being conducted every
year. A club known as “FRONT LINE LEADERS AND YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS’ RESOURCE FOR START-UPS
IN LEATHER (FLYERS)” was started by the students this year to ensure the next best generation of
leather technologists does not miss out on the Start-up revolution. This club is solely of the students, by
the students and for the students.

ALT acts as the “think tank” for the development of students of leather technology. It conceives
programs in curricular, co-curricula-extra-curricular planes for the students. This association is as old as
the department itself. Apart from the interventions such as seminars, workshops, etc, the signature
programme showcased by the association of leather technologists named CROSSLINX, an international
level technical symposium, has been hosted beyond decadal years which enables graduate pupil to
share their research and accomplishments as well as review the research currently being conducted by
their peers.
