Answer any four questions. All questions carry equal marks.

किन्ही चार प्रश्नों िे उत्तर दें। सभी प्रश्नों िे अिंि समान है ।

1.What are the core values and objectives of economic development? What are the main
characteristics of the developing countries?

आर्थिक र्िकास की प्रमुख मान्यताएँ और उद्दे श्य क्या हैं ? र्िकासशील दे श ों की मुख्य र्िशेषताएों क्या हैं ?

2. Are the objectives of eradication of poverty and achieving high economic growth
contradictory to each other? Does high income inequality create obstacles for economic
development? Discuss.

क्या गरीबी उन्मूलन और उच्च आर्थिक र्िकास प्राप्त करने के उद्दे श्य एक दू सरे के र्िर धाभासी हैं ? क्या
उच्च आय असमानता आर्थिक र्िकास में बाधा उत्पन्न करती है ? चचाि कीर्िए।

3. What is the Human Development Index (HDI) and what are its current components (after
2010)? Explain the methodology of the index construction. Provide a critical assessment of HDI
as a measure of development.

मानि र्िकास सूचकाों क (HDI) क्या है और इसके ितिमान घटक (2010 के बाद) क्या हैं ? सूचकाों क र्नमाि ण
की पद्धर्त की व्याख्या कीर्िए। र्िकास के एक मापक के रूप में HDI का आल चनात्मक मूल्ाों कन
प्रस्तुत करें ।

4. What is meant by ‘sustainable development’? What are the issues involved in discounting
climate change? Evaluate the opinion that environmental concerns should be of lower priority
compared to growth objectives for the developing countries.
'सतत र्िकास' से क्या तात्पयि है ? िलिायु पररितिन में छूट दे ने में कौन से मुद्दे शार्मल हैं ? इस धारणा का
मूल्ाों कन करें र्क र्िकासशील दे श ों के र्लए र्िकास के उद्दे श्य ों की तुलना में पयाि िरणीय मामल ों क कम
प्राथर्मकता र्दया िाना चार्हए ।

5. Briefly explain the terms “uneven development” and “social exclusion”. Do you think the
process of globalization while implying major gains for some people has simultaneously
heightened uneven development and social exclusion? Discuss.

"असमान र्िकास" और "सामार्िक बर्हष्कार" शब् ों की सोंर्िप्त व्याख्या करें । क्या आपक लगता है र्क
िैश्वीकरण की प्रर्िया ने कुछ ल ग ों के र्लए बडे लाभ का सोंकेत दे ते हुए असमान र्िकास और सामार्िक
बर्हष्कार क साथ- साथ बढा र्दया है ? चचाि करें ।

6.Write a long note on any one of the following:
