Remdesivir is approved for the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS­CoV­2) in hospitalized patients.

In a multinational, randomized trial, hospitalized patients infected with SARS­CoV­2 who received remdesivir showed a significant reduction in the time
to recovery compared to those who received placebo; those requiring supplemental oxygen benefited the most from remdesivir treatment.
