WORK-LIFE BALANCE, JOB SATISFACTION AND

TURNOVER INTENTION AMONG EMPLOYEES

The proposed title for the dissertation is work-life balance, job satisfaction and turnover

intention among employees: a case study of Unilever Plc. The purpose of this

dissertation will be to investigate the impact and effect of work-life balance, job

satisfaction and turnover intention on employees’ productivity in an organization. It shall

look into the need and benefits of work life balance, the concept of work-life imbalance,

factors influencing job satisfaction (compensation and benefit policies, job security,

working conditions, promotions, etc.) and the social relevance of work life. The

dissertation will gather, compare and evaluate different literatures from different

scholars on the variables and how they improve employees’ performance and

commitment to an organization plus the organisation’s move to ensure sustainability

and employees’ satisfaction.

The objectives of the dissertation is to investigate the effect of work-life balance on job

satisfaction and turnover intention of employees, how organisations can improve

employees’ satisfaction, if social life balance have any effect on job satisfaction, how

quality of work can lead to turnover and also determine if there is likelihood for steady

employment to have the intention to leave a job. Organizations seen not to be acting in

a socially responsible manner, for example, honoring human rights, will cause

increasing numbers of workers to depreciate the values of their work and careers which

in turn affect their self-esteem (Walton, 1975). Furthermore, many academic

researchers proved that the association between turnover and level of job satisfaction is

moderated by turnover intentions.
