Making an action plan

a) Formulate a clear and focused research question


 Use the SOI to formulate a research question. Rewording of the SOI has no marks.
 Focus must be on one of the key elements in the SOI.
 Your research question must have a time/place of focus
 Use ‘to what extent’ or ‘how far’ as the command term

b) Justify the relevance to your research question


 Explain why you did you choose the particular aspect from the SOI
 Explain the choice of country/time period
 Explain how these two will make your investigation broad and relevant
 Beginning of relevance ‘The SOI states------ and my research questions asks how--------‘.
I have chosen to investigate ----------------- because -----. Hence the question would help
me investigate ----

c) Write a sub question


 Formulate a question with a aspect that has not been mentioned in the research question
 Use any command term, such as how, why, what etc. to formulate a sub question

d) List two pieces of information/data that would help your investigation


 Write what information would help your investigation

e) Outline one method of data collection you would use to collect information/data listed above
 Methods of data collection are primary and secondary
 Primary data is the first hand information collected by you. It could be an interview, an
experiment or, a survey conducted by you.
 Secondary data is any information you get from different sources such as weblinks,
newspapers, Ted Talks etc.

f) Name a method of recording the information collected


 Name a method that would be used to preserve/store/collect the information you have
gathered. For example a diary, a word document, video/audio recording, table, graph etc.

g) Outline why a stake holder would be interested in your research


 Name a stake holder and give a reason why this stake holder would be interested in you
research
