TEACHER’S NOTES – GAMES:

MOVING PREPOSITIONS GAME

Ask students to bring photographs from magazines with people in a certain pose. Students glue
the photos on cardboard cards. Shuffle them.

Student A picks one card.

His job is to give you instructions, so you (teacher) will look like the person on the photo. “Sit/lie
down on the table. Put your left hand under your head. Put your left hand on your stomach. Put
your right foot under your left ankle. .....”

It is a great fun! There can be one player (instructor) or two or a group.

It can be played as a pair-work, student A gives instructions, student B obeys. :-D

ABSOLUTELY FUNNY. You will laugh your head off. :-D

DRAW A PICTURE - Similar game we used to play at school.

Revise math vocabulary – a square, a rectangle, a triangle, a circle, a oval, ... + a star, a line, a
heart, a flower etc...

Student A draws a simple picture and give instructions to student B. Student B draws the
picture. In the end they compare. SUPERB FUN!

eg: draw a pig, a dog, a cat, a bird, a house, a robot, a tree, a garden .......

Bizarre picture – draw a picture/photo of your room. Place 10 objects on strange places. eg:
There is a T-shirt on the lamp. There is a plant under the bed....

Students read a graded reader and underline all prepositions. Then write down the phrases
or whole sentences. The student with the highest number of VARIOUS prepositions WINS.

Gimme the Answer – S1 picks an answer card (On the desk.) S1 asks questions, and waits
for the right answer (eg: Where is the pen? “(It’s) ON the desk.”)

Build a castle – ss make a castle from various items, a desk, chairs, bags, books, plants.
Group A give instructions, group B builds... The most beautiful girl hides inside the castle. In the
end they make a photo.
Scavenger hunt – hide several objects, group A finds the objects, hides them and gives
instructions to group B (or student B) – left, right, up, down, step aside, under, behind, in,
against, by, on, between, above, near, to the left of...

Treasure – Group A writes hints on small pieces of paper. eg: Go to the window and look under
the plant. The student finds the next message under the plant. (8-15 messages, the last one is
hidden under the treasure (a bag of sweets...)
