CHAPTER 1
PRELIMINARY

A. BACKGROUND
In this era of globalization, technological developments are far more advanced
with various existing developments. Along with the development of the times so fast
information technology is so easily accessible from various parts of the world. You
can access every information from every country with international system.
Everyone cannot avoid technological developments that are always there and change
all the time. Especially in the current era, technology is constantly evolving and new
innovations emerge. One real example is the formation of media convergence. Media
convergence is the merging or integration of existing media to be used and directed
into a single point of destination. Media convergence usually refers to the
development of digital communication technology made possible by network
convergence. Media convergence can make it easier to access information online.

Then what is the effect of media convergence on the association of young people in
cyberspace?
B. PURPOSE
Proving the influence of media convergence on the association of young people in
cyberspace, and finding solutions.
C. SCOPE
All forms of developing information technology media.

THEORY BASIS / THEORY BASIS

In this era of globalization, technological developments are far more advanced

originated from various circumstances that underlie the formation of communication
and news between people in all corners of the world. Such as military interests,
business, forums, news, to the global exchange of information can be facilitated.
The majority of users of the virtual world are teenagers who use this global
media for various purposes such as education and socialization. Even so, adults and
parents also use this facility to support their work. But the intensity of use by
teenagers is more dominant.
Along with the rapid development of the times, information technology and
cyberspace are so easily accessible from various parts of the world. You can easily
access any information from any country with the international system without any
barriers.
Everyone cannot avoid technological developments that are always there and
change all the time. One real example is the formation of media convergence. Media
convergence can make it easier to access information online.
Then what is the effect of media convergence on the association of young people in
cyberspace?

CHAPTER III
DISCUSSION

In this era of globalization, people are required to be media literate, including

information media that can provide all inputs about the parallelism of media politics.
People should understand this strange thing. Because the background is that the media
is the target of the interests of investors.
Because of this, the formation of media convergence becomes a forum for
people's aspirations to express their opinions. When people cannot take advantage of
conventional media, they can use the sophisticated information media that is already
available. This can help with the intriguing political problems.
Social media seems to have become an addiction for Indonesian people,
especially teenagers. Today's teenagers are synonymous with smartphones in their
hands almost 24 hours. The social media most often used by teenagers are Facebook,
Twitter, Path, YouTube, Instagram, Line, and BBM. Social media has its own
advantages and interests for its users. Social media offers a lot of conveniences that
make teenagers feel at home in using it for a long time.
According to Crish Garrett, social media is a tool, service and communication that
facilitates the relationship between people and each other and has many fans,
including teenagers, even minors who already have personal social media accounts.
The emergence of various kinds of social media has a direct influence, both positive
and negative.
Social media users among teenagers have a direct influence, both positive and
negative. Teenagers who often use social media can interfere with their learning
process. For example, when they are studying, incoming chat notifications from their
friends can interfere with their learning process. The habit of a teenager tweeting on
social media is sometimes just to complain about how difficult the lessons they are
working on are.
Information that is spread through social media is regularly listened to leading
to the formation of opinions among teenagers. One example, an official account only
cites pages whose contents only discuss the sweetness of dating relationships, the
description of an ideal boyfriend, and others. The account regularly posts messages
like that, indirectly only directing the focus of teenagers' attention which only leads to
dating instead of school.

CHAPTER IV
THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND CRYAN WORLD

Is there any influence social media has on the development of today's young
generation? Is it positive or negative for teenagers? The following are the positive and
negative impacts of using social media:

Positive impact :
• Keeping in touch with family or relatives who are far away and haven't seen each
other for a long time, then through social media this can be done.
• As a learning and teaching resource, social media has a huge impact. We can
browse and learn new knowledge there. Because the internet has many topics and
the latest sources of knowledge. By searching for topics on the internet you are
one step ahead when starting learning in the classroom.
• Information dissemination media. In just a few minutes after the incident, we have
been able to enjoy the information.
• Social media as a medium of communication. Social media users can
communicate with users all over the world.

Negative impact :

• Difficult to socialize with people around. This is because they are lazy to learn to
communicate for real. People who are active on social media, if they meet in
person, are actually quiet people and don't get along much.
• Social media makes a person only selfish. They become oblivious to their
surroundings, because they spend a lot of time on the internet.
• Reduced performance, company employees, students, students who play social
media while doing their jobs will reduce their working time and study time.

Solution :

limit oneself to good norms and morals. The formation of character from an
early age, including during adolescence, is very important for the future of the youth
themselves and more broadly for the future of the nation. Teenagers as the nation's
successors who have good, strong, and tough characters will certainly be able to make
this country progress.
 CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION

From the explanation of media convergence above, it can be concluded that

the development of information technology is quite helpful in various aspects, one of
which is politics, communication between human beings, learning and association.
The solution to prevent negative things from happening is by limiting and shaping the
child's character from childhood and supervision from parents.
