Introduction

1.1 Background 1.2 Research and Sub Question

In this Internal Assessment, Students will conduct an investigation to determine the relationship
between diet and the end of term grades of students of ages 16-18 at signal hill secondary
school.In today's society there are some students in the world and within the caribbean and
diaspora who have a limited amount of capital where they can acquire all the necessary assets
while others have substantial amounts through which they can acquire so much more. If there is
a lack of diet and nutrient intake within a student this may affect his/hers ability to focus in
exams especially towards the end of the term due to lack of energy source available.

1.2 Research Question and Sub Question

Main research question:How has diet affected the end of term grades of students age 16-18 at
signal hill secondary school ?

Sub Questions:
● Has there been similar occurrences in other school compounds with regards to the
students academic performance?
● How many students have failed the end of term exams and gotten low grades due to poor
diet yearly?

1.3 Educational Value of Study

The staff would greatly benefit from the information conducted in this research because it would
aim to give the teachers an idea or opportunity to speak with and share this information with
students' parents in the hope that the negative grades of students as well as the influential diets
especially with unhealthy foods can be rectified efficiently.
The students can greatly benefit from this information in the conducted research due to the fact
that a lot of communication takes place between the students in and out of the compound
,including during school hours and in that regard can pass information much faster amongst
themselves in order to help one another whose within the situation of their grades being
influenced by diet.
