Wellington Cricket Club

Code of Conduct for Members

All members of Wellington Cricket Club Inc (“WCC”) whether playing or non-playing members – are
the public face of the club and are expected to maintain a certain standard of conduct.  This extends
to playing in and watching matches, attending training sessions, participating at social events,
attending the WCC or opposition clubrooms, using WCC facilities and equipment and using social
media.

In this respect, all WCC members must adhere to the following:

 Be respectful of the rights of all involved in cricket regardless of ability, race, gender,
sexuality or religion.  This includes other WCC members, opposition players, coaches,
umpires, scorers, administrators, volunteers, parents and spectators.
 Treat all other WCC members equally and fairly.
 In relation to matches and training sessions, show good sportsmanship and uphold the spirit
of cricket.
 Do not threaten, abuse, harass or discriminate against others.
 Avoid using excessively rude or offensive language and behaviour.
 Treat WCC equipment and facilities, and the equipment of other WCC members, with
respect.
 Avoid conduct that might reflect poorly on, or embarrass, the Club.
 Do not encourage other WCC members to engage in conduct that would contravene this
code.

Enforcement of the code:

When enforcing the code of conduct the Committee will act according to the severity of the
particular breach.  In most cases, an offending member will receive a warning from the Committee.
Where appropriate, the offending member may be ejected from WCC premises and/or given a
direction to promptly rectify the breach (e.g. by apologising to relevant persons).  For serious or
frequent breaches the Committee may take more substantial action, such as suspension from
matches (for playing members) or, in extreme cases, expulsion from WCC

Family members and friends:

The Committee encourages all WCC members to ensure that their family members and friends
adhere to the code of conduct when attending WCC matches, training sessions, social events and
WCC or opposition clubrooms, or otherwise using WCC facilities or equipment.  Family members or
friends who fail to do so may be asked to leave WCC premises and/or be denied future entry.
