1 Introduction
This document describes how to replace power units in the 6120 cabinet.
For information about replacing power units that are attached to the Remote
Radio Units (RRUs), see Replacing Remote Radio Units for applicable RRUs.
Note: Take caution when working close to the air restriction plate. Sharp edges
and protruding corners are present. Use protective gloves. For more
information about the air restriction plate, see Replacing Internal
Supplementary Parts.
1.1 Prerequisites
This section contains information on the documents, tools, and conditions that
apply to the replacement procedures.

1.1.3 Conditions
Before going to site, make sure that the following conditions are met:
— There is space in the subrack or the cabinet for the unit, if applicable.
Figure 1 shows where the battery blocks are located in the cabinet. The battery
blocks to be replaced are referred to as battery 1, 2, 3, or 4, respectively, as shown
in the illustration.

Danger!
Explosion risk!
Overheated batteries can result in highly flammable hydrogen gas in the cabinet that can
cause an explosion. Install the battery temperature sensor(s) according to the
instructions.
Warning!
High energy levels are present in this unit. Improper handling of the unit can lead to short
circuits that can result in serious injury. Exercise care when working with this unit.
Warning!
Improper handling of batteries can cause them to short-circuit, which can result in serious
injury due to high energy levels. Exercise the necessary care when working with batteries.
Remove any items that can cause short circuits, such as, rings and bracelets.
Caution!
Excessive heat can cause battery casings to soften and warp, potentially allowing acid to
escape. Acid can cause injury when in contact with the skin, and can affect the throat and
lungs if inhaled. Use protective equipment when replacing batteries.

17 Replace a PFU
This section describes how to remove and install a Power Filter Unit (PFU) in the
cabinet.
The PFU is located in the power subrack. For more detailed information on where
the units are located, see RBS Description.
Warning!
High energy levels are present in this unit. Improper handling of the unit can lead to short
circuits that can result in serious injury. Exercise care when working with this unit.
Do!
This product contains components sensitive to ESD. Use an approved ESD wrist strap,
connected to the product grounding point, to avoid damaging these components.
Steps
1. Inform the OMC that work is to start on the cabinet. The OMC can then
decide what measures are necessary to minimize service disruptions.
2. Open the cabinet door. Different handles and locking mechanisms are
available.

3. Connect the alarm connector to the PFU. For more information about cable
connections, see Non-RF Connections.
Ge4769A
This section describes how to remove and install a Power Supply Unit (PSU) in
the cabinet.
The PSUs are located in the power subrack. For more detailed information on
where the units are located, see RBS Description.
The node may switch itself off during PSU replacement if a redundant PSU is not
installed, or a battery backup system is not used. It is recommended to replace
PSUs during low traffic conditions.
Warning!
High energy levels are present in this unit. Improper handling of the unit can lead to short
circuits that can result in serious injury. Exercise care when working with this unit.

19 Replace an SHU
This section describes how to remove and install a Support Hub Unit (SHU) in the
cabinet.
The SHU is located on the cabinet wall on the right-hand side, as shown in Figure
13.
Note: The speed of the cabinet fans can decrease during replacement of the
SHU. It is therefore likely that units within the cabinet report
temperature alarms. It is recommended to replace the SHU during low
traffic conditions.
