Diabetes Mellitus (DM) or better known to the public as "Sugar Disease" is a disease
that is emerging today. This is related to unhealthy lifestyles and eating patterns in our
society. The number of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers in Indonesia is estimated to have
increased from 8.4 million in 2010 to around 21.3 million in 2030. Based on survey
results in Banten, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus was 1.43% in urban areas and
1.47% in rural areas. Community nurses have an important role to play in
encouraging the community, especially the elderly, to be able to understand their
condition so that they can perform self-care independently (self-care). The purpose of
preparing this scientific paper is to learn and get real experience in implementing
Community Nursing Care for the elderly with Diabetes Mellitus in the working area
of the Munjul Community Health Center, Pasanggrahan Village, Munjul District,
Pandeglang Regency. There are 2 nursing diagnoses that emerge and the nursing
process is carried out with an emphasis on the active participation of all the elderly.
Hopefully this scientific work can increase the breadth of applied science in nursing,
Puskesmas and health cadres can work together in managing community nursing care
to make it better, and the elderly can increase independence and health care for a
better and optimal life.
