Before opening the Internet Cafe, the students decided they would sell these

products:

‡ Internet connectivity using workstations

‡ Snacks and coffee provided by a delivery service
‡ Print services through a single networked printer

All of these products together are known as the Internet Cafe's product mix.
The product mix is the group of products that a company makes available to
customers. The product mix is divided into product lines. Each product listed
above is considered a different product line within the total product mix.

Product lines can be divided into individual product items. For example, the
Internet line is divided into the subscription item and the pay-to-use item. The
snacks and coffee line are divided into the individual snack items (muffins,
cookies, scones) and the individual coffee items (regular, decaffeinated,
flavored). The print service line has only one item, which is a printed page.

The students begin their review of the Internet Cafe's product mix by asking
questions:

‡ Do the products match the customer?

‡ Are the products performing as expected?
‡ Which products are succeeding?

As they look around the cafe, they see the customers using the products. They
believe the cafe is selling the right products. A review of their sales will help
them determine if the products are performing as expected.
