ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the health-care challenges that many
countries are experiencing. Positive verified instances of Covid-19 are now on the rise in
Indonesia. Covid-19 does not only attack adults, but it may also attack teens, because there is a
rise in engagement with peers throughout adolescence, and teenagers frequently undergo
emotional shifts, resulting in acts of aggression or adolescent behavior to execute health
protocols. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between knowledge and
behavior in the execution of health protocols Covid-19 at SMP N 16 Jambi city.

METHOD This is a quantitative research that was conducted at SMP N 16 in Jambi City
utilizing the cross-sectional approach. There were 681 people in total. A purposive sample
strategy was used to choose 85 respondents from grades VII and VIII. This study was carried out
entirely online, with participants completing a questionnaire using a Google form. The chi-
square test was used to evaluate the data as univariate and bivariate.
RESULT The findings revealed that respondents' understanding of Covid-19 was in the good
category for as many as 41 (48.2 %) and in the sufficient category for as many as 33 (48.2
percent) (38.8 %). Respondents' conduct in applying the Covid-19 health protocol in schools was
mainly positive, with as many as 48 respondents rating it as excellent (56.5 %). The chi-square
statistical test yielded the following findings (p-value = 0.006 0.05).
CONCLUSION This study concludes that there is a substantial link between knowledge and
conduct in the execution of Health Protocols Covid-19 at SMP N 16 in Jambi City. For SMP N
16, schools shall hold Covid-19 and health protocol counseling in order to improve students'
behavior in applying health protocols in schools.
