Preface
This manual provides the instructions for maintenance and repair of the MT-516 Fetal
Actocariograph.
This manual is intended for use only by trained and qualified personnel.
Instructions for the operation of the equipment are provided in the Operation Manual separately.
Warning
・ When dissembling the equipment, please disconnect the power cable from the equipment and
turn off the power switch. Otherwise you may have electric shock.
・ Do not touch the head of the recorder carelessly, because it is heated. You may get burned.
・ Do not give shocks to the Transducers, because they are very sensitive. It may cause
breakage.
・ Do not use this equipment in the environment where explosion hazards present such as in the
presence of flammable anesthetic gas.
This equipment does not have explosion proof construction.
・ Use 3-p outlets with earth ground. Otherwise you may get electric shock.
・ Do no attempt to connect or disconnect a power cord with wet hands. Make certain that your
hands are clean and dry before touching a power cord.
・ Unplug the equipment from the AC power source and detach all accessories before cleaning.
Do not immerse the monitor in water or allow liquids to enter casing.
・ Administrate not to bring cellar phones, transceivers or radio-controlled toys, etc. in the room
where this equipment is installed. It may cause the electromagnetic wave influence to the
equipment.
・ Use only patient cables and transducers supplied with the monitor. Use of any other patient
cables may result in out-of-specification performance and possible safety hazards.
・ When interfacing with other equipment, a test for leakage current must be performed before
using with patients. The system configuration must meet the requirements of the IEC 60601-
1-1 medical electrical systems standard.

1.3.2. Power Board B-725
Power Board B-725 gives stabilized Power Supply to the circuits. Voltage of each
terminal is as follows.
CP1: +5V±0.1V
CP3: +8V±0.3V
CP5: -8V±0.3V
CP6: +24V±1V
6
On the other hand, this board outputs signals to the CPU on the Main board for heart
rate detection after band-pass filtering of twin collection amplified output. These signals
also are output to the speaker as Doppler Sound. The circuit compositions of DOP1 and
DOP2 are same. Because Non-invasive UC signals are connected directly to the Main
board from the Transducer connector, this board does not process signal.
Switch 1
Battery CR-2032
7
1) Setting Switch 1
Settings of switches on the boards are as follows.
8
1.3.5. External Output
External Outputs are provided on the rear panel of MT-516, which are for an
analogue and a digital output. Digital output can be used for our Central Station
Monitor.
9
2. Maintenance
2.1 Cleaning
Caution
・ Please detach from the main body before disinfections.
・ Do not wipe strongly the Transmitting and Receiving Surface of Transducer. It
may cause failures.
・ Do not use Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Sodium Hypochlorite, Volatile Solvent
(Ethanol, Benzene, etc.) or Cleanser for cleaning.
It may cause the deterioration of materials.
・ Do not clean, sterilize or wipe off connecting plugs of power supply cables with
water. It may cause electrical damages.
The Transducers of MT-516 are waterproof. You can put them in chemical liquid.
However do not put connector plugs into chemical liquid.
Caution
・Each chemical liquid has different efficiency to germs. Please observe and use them
according to the statement of virtues, usages and notices of chemical liquid.
○ Before disinfections
Wipe off the gel on the Transducer with tissue paper or paper towel.
○Disinfection
① Dip a clean cloth in chemical liquid and squeeze it. Wipe one way the surface of
accessories that will contact to epidermis.
② Dip a clean cloth in the disinfected and distilled water and squeeze it.
Please wipe the surface of accessories again in order to take off remaining drops of
chemical liquid.
③ Wipe them dry with a clean dry cloth or paper towels.
10
2.1.2 Main body
Please clean the Main body after turning off the power switch and disconnecting a
power cable from the outlet. Please wipe lightly the main body with a dry cloth
periodically.
① Put a cloth in the neutral detergent diluted with slightly hot water or water.
After squeezing the cloth well, wipe off the Main body slightly strong with it.
② Wipe again the Main body with a cloth which is cleaned by fresh water and
squeezed well.
③ Wipe the Main body dry with a dry cloth lastly to dry up.
2.2 Storage
○ Main body
When you do not use it for a long time, please disconnect the power cable plug
from the outlet.
Please cover the main body with the dust-proof cover.
○ Transducer
Please store not to give shocks on the Transmitting and Receiving Surface of the
Doppler Transducer and Pressure Sensing Surface of the Uterine Contraction
Transducer.
○ Storage environment
Please keep the equipment and accessories in the following conditions.
(Excluding recording chart paper)
Temperature -10 ~+60℃
Humidity 30 ~ 95% (Non condensing)
Pressure 70 ~ 106kPa
○ Recording Paper
① Keep recording papers under 30℃ in temperature and under 65% in Humidity.
② When you put recording papers in a file case, do not put in a plastic case.
③ Do not leave under direct sunlight or under ultraviolet rays. Papers may turn
yellow.
④ Do not keep together with wet type blue print papers. Paper may turn to black.
Remarks: The recording paper is no good for long period storage. For long period
storage and preservation, other recording media are recommended by using external
output terminal.
