Actocariograph.
This manual is intended for use only by trained and qualified personnel.
Instructions for the operation of the equipment are provided in the Operation Manual separately.

Warning

・ When dissembling the equipment, please disconnect the power cable from the equipment and
turn off the power switch. Otherwise you may have electric shock.
・ Do not touch the head of the recorder carelessly, because it is heated. You may get burned.
・ Do not give shocks to the Transducers, because they are very sensitive. It may cause
breakage.
・ Do not use this equipment in the environment where explosion hazards present such as in the
presence of flammable anesthetic gas.
This equipment does not have explosion proof construction.
・ Use 3-p outlets with earth ground. Otherwise you may get electric shock.
・ Do no attempt to connect or disconnect a power cord with wet hands. Make certain that your
hands are clean and dry before touching a power cord.
・ Unplug the equipment from the AC power source and detach all accessories before cleaning.
Do not immerse the monitor in water or allow liquids to enter casing.
・ Administrate not to bring cellar phones, transceivers or radio-controlled toys, etc. in the room
where this equipment is installed. It may cause the electromagnetic wave influence to the
equipment.
・ Use only patient cables and transducers supplied with the monitor. Use of any other patient
cables may result in out-of-specification performance and possible safety hazards.
・ When interfacing with other equipment, a test for leakage current must be performed before

1.3. Overview

1.3.1. Product Technology /Components

When you use MT-516 Fetal Monitor, please fix Doppler Transducer and Non-invasive
UC Transducer on a maternal abdominal wall. Doppler Transducer detects fetal heart beats
By Ultrasound Doppler Technology and Non-invasive UC Transducer detects displacement
caused by tension of abdominal wall while uterine is contracting. The detected information
will be inputted to the inside of the equipment. The equipment will process signals in each
circuits corresponding to their characteristics and will display Heart Rate and UC Level on
the display board.
The equipment will record Heart Rate and UC waveforms and Fetal Movement detected
from Doppler signals on Recording Paper simultaneously.
Heart Rate Alarm will alert visually on Display board and audibly in alarm sound, when the
heart rate beats go over the upper limit of Heart Rate preset in memory or go under the
preset lower limit of that and continue longer than the delay time.

1.3.2. Power Board B-725
Power Board B-725 gives stabilized Power Supply to the circuits. Voltage of each
terminal is as follows.

CP1: +5V±0.1V
CP3: +8V±0.3V
CP5: -8V±0.3V
CP6: +24V±1V

Remarks: CP2 and CP4 are grounds of CP3,

CP5.
CP7 is ground Terminal of CP6.

U5 is amp for speaker drive. F1 and F2

Fuses on the board are protecting Output
Amplifier. (H-FMC 0.5A)

1.3.3. Sub Board B-727

This board amplifies and detects signals from the Transducer. This board also supplies
fetal Movement signals to the main board from output of the Twin Collection Amplifier after
detection through Fetal Movement Filter.
.

6
On the other hand, this board outputs signals to the CPU on the Main board for heart
rate detection after band-pass filtering of twin collection amplified output. These signals
also are output to the speaker as Doppler Sound. The circuit compositions of DOP1 and
DOP2 are same. Because Non-invasive UC signals are connected directly to the Main
board from the Transducer connector, this board does not process signal.

1.3.4. Main board B-726

The Main board has three CPUs. U43 unit processes self-correlation of DOP1. And
U49 unit processes self-correlation of DOP2. U35 unit is used for controlling the whole
equipment and display.
CPU is 8 MHz in clock speed. (X1)
Following list shows outlines of the functions of each circuit diagram.

Caution
・ Please detach from the main body before disinfections.
・ Do not wipe strongly the Transmitting and Receiving Surface of Transducer. It
may cause failures.
・ Do not use Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Sodium Hypochlorite, Volatile Solvent
(Ethanol, Benzene, etc.) or Cleanser for cleaning.
It may cause the deterioration of materials.
・ Do not clean, sterilize or wipe off connecting plugs of power supply cables with
water. It may cause electrical damages.
The Transducers of MT-516 are waterproof. You can put them in chemical liquid.
However do not put connector plugs into chemical liquid.

○ Usable Chemical Liquid

Amphoteric Surfactants(Hypal,etc)

Caution
・Each chemical liquid has different efficiency to germs. Please observe and use them
according to the statement of virtues, usages and notices of chemical liquid.

○ Before disinfections
Wipe off the gel on the Transducer with tissue paper or paper towel.

○Disinfection
① Dip a clean cloth in chemical liquid and squeeze it. Wipe one way the surface of
accessories that will contact to epidermis.
② Dip a clean cloth in the disinfected and distilled water and squeeze it.
Please wipe the surface of accessories again in order to take off remaining drops of
chemical liquid.
③ Wipe them dry with a clean dry cloth or paper towels.

10
2.1.2 Main body
