Designers can create accurate, scaled drawings of components and assemblies for designs

using 2-dimensional CAD software. It can also be used to develop and confirm design ideas
by focusing on single perspectives and utilizing the various geometric tools available.
Designers can develop completely rendered 3D fashions of components and whole
assemblies for designs using 3-dimensional CAD software. Designs can be tested virtually
before they are built of expensive materials. All of the components of a design can be
generated separately in separate documents, then integrated into a final form using 3-
dimensional CAD. Each piece can be modified at any moment, and changes can also be
made to the final version.

Advantages Of CAD
1. Accurate 3D models can be visualized and evaluated before being made in high -
priced materials.
2. In computerized production management systems, industry engineers, technicians,
and designers can share design data.
3. Designing a pattern Models can be easily secured/stored and retrieved.
4. It can be More accurate than traditional hand drawn drawings Pattern design
5. Directly from the model. accurate, scaled, and dimensioned engineering drawings
can be generated.
6. To save the pattern design, we don't require a large paper for drawing.
7. We can save multiple copies in the computer, share them, and print them using
electronic devices.
8. In order to design the products, we do not need to recruit a big number of
expensive draftsmen.
9. To produce cutting data for a CNC (computer numerical control) machine It is
immediately usable.
10. As per the necessary, Auto-scaling and rescaling of drawings is possible.
11. In industry, models can be easily redesigned and modified to aid product creation,
regeneration, and non-stop development procedures.
12. It is very faster to produce products with less labor intensive.
13. We can achieve the higher quality design than conventional hand drawing pattern.
14. It is easier to read and understand the design that we created for models.
15. And also, it saves the lot of patterns making time than the manual hand writing
pattern design.
In high-tech world, CAM is playing a major role in apparel industry. It's also a key
component of many production technologies. In today's world, the garment business
relies heavily on CAM. It's also a key component of many production technologies. Milling,
Routing, Cutting, Turning, Heat Cutting, Engraving, and even printing in solid materials can
all be done automatically with CAM equipment in both 2D and 3D dimensional forms. The
majority of modern CAM procedures require data from 2 or 3-dimensional CAD drawings,
which the CAM software converts into machining routes [G&M codes]. An offset
allowance will be applied to the drawing in the 2D CAM method/process for cutting profile
or pocketing forms into a fabric to account for the radius of the cutter being utilized. The
offset lines will be converted into a cutting profile, with the machines following the
cutter's center. Where the majority of the fabric components or batches are to be cut
from a billet. By carefully arranging the components, the production engineer should be
able to minimize material/fabric waste.

Usually, the majority of CAM production follows the process like this.

Important offset paths/color coding for different cuts, etc.… are added to 2D drawings,
and 3D models are exported as stereo-lithography[stl] files. The data will be transformed
into G&M machine codes, which are actual 2D or 3D pathways that the machine cutter
will follow. Cutting cutter diameters, depths, and materials [speed/feeds] must all be
entered at this stage in order to set the correct G&M codes. A virtual machining preview
will be done on the computer at this point to test and clarify the configuration. A billet of
the proper size will be installed in the machine, and set-ups will be created based on the
tooling [depth settings and diameter], real material depth, and occasionally feed and
speed settings. The machine is ready to go, with all of the necessary safeguards in place.
The final material/piece is then removed and cleaned in preparation for the finishing
steps.

Advantages of CAM

1. Manufacturing procedures can be carried out with less monitoring and during
off-hours.
2. Working employees can be freed from mundane tapes of work to work on more
demanding/interesting elements of the product manufacturing process.
3. Digital machining on screen allows a member of staff to examine machining
processes and process outputs.
4. We can make a prototype model very rapidly for a thorough evaluation before
finalizing designs for production.
5. Machines can work indefinitely and with very narrow margins of error.
6. Manufacturing will be efficient and repeatable throughout a large number of
batches or runs.
7. The end result of manufacturing will be a lower labor cost (intensive) and a
lower total cost of employment in the long run.
