Experiment-4:
Dynamic analysis of Buck converter.
Aim:
Aim of this experiment is to observe the output waveforms after load change and change
in the input voltage.
Components: TL494 control circuit board, circuit of uncontrolled rectifier, IRF480
MOSFET, rheostat(50ohm/5A), capacitor (47microF and 220microF), inductor(1.2mH),
Diode (BY399), wires.
.

Circuit:

1. Output Voltage for Change in the load resistance

a. Concept:
When we add extra resistive load in parallel, the equivalent resistance decreases,
which in result lead to increase in current to maintain voltage. And inductor won’t
allow sudden increase or decrease in the circuit.
b. Procedure:
I. Add resistance in parallel and notice the change in voltage.

c. Output:
d. Observation:
• Maximum Voltage is 10.2 V.
• The dip we see in the figure is due to the inductor because inductor doesn’t
allow sudden changes in the current.

2. Output Voltage for Change in the input voltage

a. Concept:
When we increase the input voltage, the voltage across the load increase to
maintain the power flow.
b. Procedure:
I. Increase the input voltage and notice the change in the output voltage.
c. Output:
d. Observation:
• Maximum voltage is 14.2V.
• When we increase the input voltage, the voltage across the load increase
with it.
