TROLLS

Election is near again fellows. Do you have an initial bet? The filing of elective positions is going on but
the campaign period will start next year. But as we observed, people are campaigning early on social
media through Facebook, YouTube and TikTok. Influencers are featuring and endorsing a certain
politician or a political party. But do you think that what they are saying is true or they are just
brainwashing the minds of the constituents? As a saying says “Never trust words, some people have
sugars on their lips but venom in their hearts.” Sounds politician right, it reflects the desires of a
‘personal interest driven’ facade politicians. Social media had an extremely wide impact among people,
it can change a person’s view of something like political view, religious beliefs, principles in life, etc. Let’s
go to the gist, have you observed that a post from local channel stations like ABS-CBN and GMA
pertaining to a politician, his/her actions, and current issues get more “HAHA” reaction and emojis.
Maybe because they are bias or one sided unlike other medias where they show everything or maybe
their fact checkers are f*cked. When we take a look at the comment section, you will see dozens of trolls
fighting and stating their point with no concrete and reliable sources. People sharing their opinions will
expectedly get a “HAHA” emoji most of the time. This is a proof that the social media is toxic in some
ways most likely political and government issues. Abominable comments are ubiquitous in every posts,
pictures and videos on social media outlets relating to gov’t and politics. Now, trolls are the cyber pawns
of omnipotent politicians and their tasks is to throw black propaganda against their opponents and their
fellow enemy troll. Celebrities and influencers are getting involved on different issues involving politics,
they can demonize a formidable opponent to turn the table upside down, they can manipulate innocent
minds of the youth and deceive their supporters to catapult their bet on a certain position. A post from a
certain page, news media, celebrity and influencer is like a match in social media because a stick of a
match can burn a whole mountain. It can brainwash people who are not aware of the facts and
individuals who do not seek the truth first. Patronage politics or value system is common where people
idolize someone (politician) and became a die-hard fan and supporter that everything he does is good
and will defend him if needed to. At the end, the elites are ventriloquist who makes puppets and money
makes politicians and politicians makes trolls. National level politicians are the tip of the iceberg where
elites and oligarchs are the anonymous individuals lurking in the shadows to serve their own political
and personal machination.

There are two sides of a coin so do some research, became a wide reader and a truth seeker.
Remember, this is a democratic state where majority rules. Aristotle once said, “It is better for a state to
be governed by a good man than by good laws.”
