Foreword

Utilized mud pump is one of main supporting components for drilling rig.
This user manual generally describes the technical parameters of utilized pump, the
installation and commissioning of all components and the maintenance of equipment, etc, and
operators should read this user manual carefully before use.
There is a recommended spare parts list attached to the user manual as a reference for users
ordering spare parts. If the spare parts needed by the users are not included in the list, please
refer to its parts list.

1. Safety warnings
 Only trained and qualified operators can install, operate and repair equipment with
qualification certificates.
 Operators must read related user manuals before operation, and can operate or
maintain equipment after the familiarity with its functions and operation.
 There shall be a chief principal designated for installation and maintenance, the
persons participating in work shall be assigned with clear work, and detailed and
reliable safety measures shall be available.
 In the use process, strictly execute its operation specifications and follow technical
safety rules.
 Do not run equipment in the dark unless there are proper lighting facilities.
 Persons on duty shall wear labor protection articles as required.
 The used lifter and handling equipment must adapt to related weight to be operated.
 Make sure to release pressure to zero in disconnection of any high-pressure pipelines or
hoses. Follow similar procedures in wiring of electric appliances and make sure to cut
off power supply before trying repair.
 It is forbidden to maintain and repair equipment during its operation.
 Do not overload equipment.
 Don't point high-pressure air at any positions of a human body, as it may cause
personal injury. It is forbidden to rotate ball bearing or roller bearing with the
high-pressure air. Don't point the high-pressure air at fire.
2. Description of utilized mud pump
2.1. Purposes and application range
The HHF-1600 utilized mud pump is mainly matched with 50DBS drilling rig. It has the
effect that motor drives mud pump to input the mud in mud tank into high-pressure manifold
with a certain flow and pressure, so as to meet the requirements on drilling fluid displacement
and pressure in the drilling process. The utilized mud pump mainly comprises one HTB05F AC
motor, one HHF-1600 mud pump and drive device, and its drive way is that the motor drives big
belt by small belt pulley to drive the mud pump to work. Its appearance and main dimensions
refer to Fig. 1.

2.3. Drive principle and pump stroke rate regulation
2.3.1. Drive principle
The AC motor drives the small belt pulley shaft, and then drives the mud pump by belt.
The schematic diagram of drive system refers to Fig. 2:

2.3.2. Pump stroke rate
The pump stroke can be regulated freely in the range of 0-120s/min by regulating the speeds
of the main motor.
The correspondence between the pump stroke and motor speed refers to following table:

3. Structure description
The utilized mud pump mainly comprises mud pump, big skid of pump, charge manifold,
big and small belt pulleys, drive device, spray system and lubrication system etc., referring to Fig.
3.

3.1. Electric spray system
The electric spray system comprises electric spray pump, rubber hose assembly, filter and
various joints. When the mud pump works, start the electric spray system first to suck clear water
in water tank to cool liner of mud pump, referring to Fig. 4.

3.2. Lubrication system
The lubrication system is divided into two parts: grease lubrication and oil lubrication. The
charge pump adopts oil lubrication, the mud pump adopts forced oil lubrication and splash oil
lubrication, and main motor bearing adopts grease lubrication.
Forced lubrication system comprises oil pump, oil filter and pipelines etc, refer to its
structure in Fig. 5.

3.3. Mud pump drive device
Mud pump drive device mainly comprises HTB05F AC motor, narrow V-belt, drive shaft
assembly and big belt pulley of mud pump etc. The mud pump is driven to work by the motors
through the narrow V-belt, and the structure of mud pump drive device refers to Fig. 6.

4. Installation and commissioning


4.1. Installation
Install mud pump first, and then install the drive deice, regulator, discharge manifold and
charge manifold by taking the mud pump as reference. Notice: the matched length deviation of
the matched group narrow V belts cannot be more than 12.5mm.
4.1.1. Installation and alignment of two belt pulleys
Tension two chords to check the alignment condition of two belt pulleys along one side of
the two belt pulleys. One chord line is above and the other chord is below the centerline of the
outer end surface of the big belt pulley of the mud pump. Rotate the small belt pulley until the
chords is in contact with four points on its rim. The allowable coplanarity error of the belt
pulleys cannot be more than 1mm. The alignment schematic refers to Fig. 7.

4.1.2. Tensioning of belt
Exert a load vertically at a midpoint between tangent points of one group of belt and belt
pulley to check the deflection of the belt, referring to Fig. 8, in the primary installation and after
the belt is used for a period of time, the pre-tightening force of the belt shall be readjusted.
Loosen T-bolt first, and then strain the adjusting screw rod, exert the load vertically at the
midpoint between the tangent points of the group of belt and belt pulley to check the deflection
value of the belt, referring to Fig. 8.

Apply force Wd perpendicular to the belt at the midpoint two tangent points between the
belt and belt pulley, so that the belt generates deflection f:
Newly installed belts: Wd= 600N f≈27mm
Used belts: Wd= 600N f≈32mm
Subsequently, fasten the T-bolt.
4.1.3. Installation of other parts and components
The parts that need disassembled during routine transportation include lifting frame and
small crane. Reinstall these components during installation in well site, and then connect the
cables of main motor and oil pump motor, fill mud pump with oil, and connect pipelines between
charge manifold and solids control system.
During repair, if the main motor and the drive shaft are dissembled, correct the main motor
by using the drive shaft as a reference in installation. The coaxiality tolerance cannot be more
than Φ0.15mm; otherwise the service life of the drum toothed coupling will be reduced greatly.
4.1.4. The pre-tightening torque for the connection of all main stressed bolts shall be checked by
torque wrench, and the pre-tightening torques of the bolts refer to the following table.

Notice: all exposed connecting bolts must be coated with antirust lubricating oil
(grease) before installation each time to prevent threads from rusting. Before all connecting
unions are installed each time, the exposed threads and seal surfaces must be besmeared
with the antirust lubricating oil (grease) to prevent rusting.
4.2. Commissioning
After the installation each time, commission all functions, and commission the safety
functions each shift.
Check the motor fan and electric lubricating oil pump for linkage, and the electric oil pump
shall work normally when the main motor fan is started. The normal oil supply pressure of the oil
pump shall be 0.1-0.3Mpa, and the lubricating points supply oil normally.
Commission the mud pumps and motors to working state as per the requirements in the user
manuals of mud pump and electric drive system.
Adjust the opening pressure of the safety valve as per the liner diameter of mud pump, its

corresponding maximum working pressure and drilling process requirements.


Check following items during commissioning:
The operating parameters of the electric drive system shall meet requirements and all
protection functions are complete and valid.
All drive devices cannot have abnormal vibration, abnormal noise, oil leakage and overheat
etc.
5. Lubrication
Lubrication of utilized pump mainly comprises the grease lubrication of bearing of small
belt pulley shaft.
Bearing of small belt pulley shaft is lubricated by grease once a month, and the brands of
the grease are as follows:
Winter: NLGI 1, lithium base grease.
Summer: NLGI 2, lithium base grease.
Grease lubrication is adopted for motor bearing. Under normal use, the lubricating grease is
not supplemented necessarily for three years, and after three years, the motor bearing must be
disassembled for cleaning, checking and greasing. The oil is in accordance with the requirements
in the Operation Manual of Motor or its user manual.
The lubrication of the mud pump refers to the User Manual of Mud Pump.
6. Maintenance of equipment
For the long-term and fault-free work of the utilized mud pump, maintain it correctly and in
time.
6.1. Routine maintenance before running
Before the running of the utilized pump, remove exceptions if any. Before the utilized pump
works, check the following items:
1) All connection must be firm and reliable without looseness.
2) All shafts should rotate flexibly without blockage.
3) Check the lubricating grease at all lubricating points (except the motor) for ensuring
adequate lubrication, and the lubricating grease is not polluted and does not go bad. Height of
forced lubricating oil shall accord with requirements.
4) The electric forced lubrication system is normal.
5) All protection functions of the main motor are normal.
6.2. Routine maintenance during running
When the utilized mud pump works, check the following items:
1) Fill lubricating grease periodically as per lubrication and maintenance regulations.

Supplement or replace lubricating oil in time, and clean the oil filter.
2) The temperature rise of the bearing shall not be more than 45℃ or the actually measured
temperature shall not be more than 90℃, otherwise, find out reasons and handle problems.
3) Check the running of rotating parts for abnormal phenomena such as abnormal vibration
and abnormal sound etc.
4) Check the fastener for looseness.
5) No leakage at the joint of pipelines.
6) No slip phenomenon for belts.
7) Check whether forced lubricating oil pressure is normal or not.
8) Check whether belt pulley groove is worn and becomes round. The groove wall must be
straight, and no dirt or extrusion bump are allowed in groove, thereby preventing the V belt from
being damaged quickly.

8. Transportation and storage


8.1. Transportation
Determine components and parts needing dismounted as per the requirements of vehicles.

The parts and components which need disassembled in routine transportation include the
lifting frame of mud pump and small pulley, and its transportation overall dimensions are:
8600×3375×2800mm.
Notice: during transportation, discharge water in valve bodies and pipelines completely.
8.2. Storage
During storage, clean the surfaces of the product, coat the surfaces which are not painted
with anti-rusting oil, and cover the whole utilized mud pump with waterproof oilcloth or plastic
film.
The utilized mud pump shall be stored in dry and ventilating places without corrosive gas,
100mm above the ground.
During storage, discharge the lubricating oil in the oil tank completely, discharge water in
the valve bodies completely, and rinse the inside of the suction filter of the mud pump clearly
with clear water. Check once per three months.
