The pros and cons of PE in high school.

In this day and age, physical education has been made mandatory in
innumerable high schools. While this subject is beneficial to some extent, there
are some undeniable drawbacks.

On the one hand, physical education has proved to be advantageous to

students of upper schools. Firstly, gymnastic lessons give pupils a reboost of
energy. After on-end tiresome studying hours, it is advisable that ones partake
in some physical activities, helping to trigger certain hormones to which the
brain reacts. In this way, it stays active and students surely feel more energetic.
Secondly, athletics provide participants with crucial life skills. It is a common
sight during a physical education lesson that pupils have to engage themselves
in several team sports such as football or volleyball. Consequently, students
have a chance to make acquisition of essential social skills naming leadership,
or teambuilding.

On the other hand, it is irrefutable that gymnastics has various disadvantages.

In the first place, partakers are prone to injuries. Due to a lack of proper
instructions of teachers or safety equipments, accidents are commonplace,
ranging in severity from minor injuries such as sprained ankles to serious ones
naming broken bones or even coma. In addition, in some cases, physical
education could take its toll on students. In some underdeveloped nations,
because of insufficient governmental budgets and voluntary financial support,
it has become impossible to equip every school with indoor infrastructures.
This results in the suffering of students when they have to attend outdoor
athletic lessons during a blazing hot day. Such long and continuous exposure to
extreme sunlight would be the main cause of headache in the short run and
skin cancer in the long run.

In conclusion, the teaching and learning of gymnastics in high school has both
the upside and downside to offer.
