RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Environmental conditions
The river discharge at the 0-2km station is shown in Figure 2. From January to June, pulses of high
discharge were noticed. The peak occurred during May-June and reached about 100m? s'®. Water quality
data are presented in Tables T-VI. Generally, litle varintion in water and air temperature was noticed
between the impoundment and downstream stations, Differences between sites relate mainly to diurnal
variations during sample collection. The maximum and minimum dissolved oxygen concentration was 12-4
and 6-0 mg" recorded during January and July. respectively. The concentration of dissolved oxygen tended
