I’m gonna be a mighty king I think it’s time that you and I
From the day we arrive on the planet So enemies beware! Arranged a heart to heart
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see that can ever be seen Well, I’ve never seen a king of beasts Kings don’t need advice
More to do than can ever be done With quite so little hair From little hornbills for a start
There’s far too much to take in here I’m gonna be the mane event If this is where the monarchy is headed
More to find than can ever be found Like no king was before Count me out!
But the sun rolling high I’m brushing up on looking down Out of service, out of Africa
Through the sapphire sky I’m working on my ROAR I wouldn’t hang about
Keeps great and small on the endless round Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing This child is getting wildly out of wing
It’s the circle of life Oh, I just can’t wait to be king! Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!
And it moves us all (You’ve rather a long way to go, young master, Everybody look left
Through despair and hope if you think...) Everybody look right
Through faith and love Everywhere you look I’m
Till we find our place No one saying do this
(Now when I said that, I -) Standing in the spotlight!
On the path unwinding
In the circle No one saying be there Not yet!
The circle of life (What I meant was...) Let every creature go for broke and sing
No one saying stop that Let’s hear it in the herd and on the wing
It’s the circle of life (Look, what you don’t realize...)
And it moves us all It’s gonna be King Simba’s finest fling
No one saying see here
Through despair and hope (Now see here!) Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!
Through faith and love Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!
Till we find our place Free to run around all day Oh, I just can’t waaaaaait ... to be king!
On the path unwinding (Well, that’s definitely out...)
In the circle Free to do it all my way!
The circle of life

I never thought hyenas essential To take certain duties on board Hakuna Matata! Hakuna Matata!
They’re crude and unspeakably plain The future is littered with prizes What a wonderful phrase What a wonderful phrase
But maybe they’ve a glimmer of potential And though I’m the main addressee Hakuna Matata! Hakuna Matata!
If allied to my vision and brain The point that I must emphasize is Ain’t no passing craze Ain’t no passing craze
I know that your powers of retention You won’t get a sniff without me! It means no worries It means no worries

Meticulous planning Hakuna Matata!

But we’re talking kings and successions (We’ll have food!) (Thanks!)
Even you can’t be caught unawares Tenacity spanning He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal It means no worries

Now, if you want a role model Why move mountains to get your chow
Of a life most blissfully led When you only need to move a log From the day we arrive on the planet
Then look no further than Pumbaa here Make it your dietary resolve for now And blinking, step into the sun
Than this laid-back quadruped To eat like the old warthog There’s more to be seen than can ever be seen
Relaxation’s the name of the game Regarding food More to do than can ever be done
Be cool and be thick-skinned Hmmmmmmmmm Some say eat or be eaten
Let my lifestyle be your reference frame His attitude Some say live and let live
As long as you stand upwind It’s bugs for every meal But all are agreed as they join the stampede
Your guide must be this rhapsody I’ve got it all worked out You should never take more than you give
I gets up when I likes So full of vitamins CHORUS:
He’s got it all worked out I’ve got it all worked out In the circle of life
I plans the day ahead No need to cook or peel It’s the wheel of fortune
He’s got it all worked out I’ve got it all worked out It’s the leap of faith
When inspiration strikes He eats ’em in their skins It’s the band of hope
He’s got it all worked out I’ve got it all worked out Till we find our place
I go right back to bed They’re delectable, available, On the path unwinding
He’s got it all worked out the perfect snack In the circle, in the circle of life
But though he may not be one of They ain’t endangered species Some of us fall by the wayside
nature’s dynamos And they don’t fight back And some of us soar to the stars
His mind is on the ball and far Don’t dismiss the warthog gastronomy And some of us sail through our troubles
from comatose Take it from he And some have to live with the scars
Don’t dismiss the warthog philosophy Take it from me
Take it from he There’s far too much to take in here
Take it from he! More to find than can ever be found
He’s got it all worked out He’s got it all worked out
But the sun rolling high
Take it from me! Spoken: Through the sapphire sky
He’s got it all worked out Come on kid, it’s now or never Keeps great and small on the endless round
Spoken: Hit it, Pumbaa!
Chorus
I’m starved So remember when you see us
Me too. What’s for lunch? staring into space
Glad you asked, kid We’re caught between a pillow and
Should we tell him, Pumbaa? a soft, soft place
Uh-huh Don’t resist the warthog mentality
Now listen to this Take it from he
This is the important part Take it from me
Now, who wants to be a hunter Take it from he

There’s a calm surrender
Way beyond the water hole No one saying, “See here” To the rush of day
A little down the line Free to run around all day When the heat of a rolling world
The jungle and the plains and peaks I’ll be free to do it my way Can be turned away
Are scheduled to be mine No one saying, “Do this” An enchanted moment
I’m gonna be the ruler No one saying, “Be there” And it sees me through
Of most everything around No one saying, “Stop that” It’s enough for this restless warrior
From the grandest of the mountains No one saying, “See here” Just to be with you
To the humble common ground Free to run around all day CHORUS:
My reign will be a super-awesome thing Free to do it my way And can you feel the love tonight?
Oh, I just can’t wait to be king The time has come It is where we are
I’m gonna be a noble king As someone said It’s enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
Scrupulously fair To talk of many things That we got this far
I only need a little time This may be true And can you feel the love tonight
Perhaps a little hair But I would rather stick to talking kings How it’s laid to rest?
It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds
I’m gonna be the mane event It’s easy to be royal Believe the very best
Like no king was before If you’re already leonine
I’m brushing up on looking down It isn’t just my right There’s a time for everyone
I’m working on my roar Even my left will be divine If they only learn
The fauna and the flora gonna swing The monarchy is waiting to go zing That the twisting kaleidoscope
Oh, I just can’t wait to be king Oh, I just can’t wait to be king Moves us all in turn
There’s a rhyme and reason
No one saying, “Do this” Oh, I just can’t wait to be king To the wild outdoors
No one saying, “Be there” Repeat until fade When the heart of this star-crossed voyager
No one saying, “Stop that” Beats in time with yours
Chorus
It’s enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

The animation process at
Walt Disney Animation Studios has many steps and involves hundreds of talented artists
from various disciplines. It is a team effort which starts with a great story, told by endearing
characters who live in a fantastic world that results in a classic Disney animated film.
The Lion King certainly fits that bill!
Here is a sampling of visual development art from The Lion King, starting with early
expressive character pencil designs to graphic and traditional color explorations created in
various mediums. This early artwork contributed to establishing the overall look
of the final film.

The Lion King visual development process continues
to be refined until animation production begins.
Mufasa and Simba begin to emerge into final designs.
The characters start to be recognizable in the story sketches.
Disney animators then create dynamic animations that
instill life and personality into these characters.

The process will ultimately yield spectacular final color,
as in this example of a seminal moment from the film
in which Mufasa discusses with Simba the
responsibilities of being a King.
Since its founding, the Walt Disney Animation Studios
has elevated animation to an art form by continuously
breaking new ground in animation techniques, and being
on the leading edge of technological advancements.
It is those efforts and innovations that have produced
many of the most beloved and timeless
Disney animated films.
