STRESS AMONG FEMALE TEACHERS WITH FAMILIES

INTRODUCTION
The education system plays an important role in the development of the country. Therefore,
various changes have been made in the national education system in line with the changes
that have taken place in the economic, cultural and political aspects. With this, the national
education system needs specific plans and strategies in order to increase the capacity and
capability of its practice to the highest level to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Thus, various strategies are planned and implemented especially for the field of education in
an effort to form a generation that is knowledgeable, capable and able to face the new and
challenging millennium. In fact, quality and excellent education is a vehicle to produce
Malaysian citizens who are skilled in various fields that have been the main agenda of
national development since time immemorial. However, clear goals along with well
-structured strategies and planning are meaningless if the education system fails to achieve its
objectives to produce a source of energy that is trustworthy and efficient in carrying out their
responsibilities.

Based on this, the national education system achieved rapid progress and faced the wave of
changes of the new millennium resulting in the education machinery being made responsible
for implementing educational programs involving all hierarchies and layers in the
organization. This demands a firm commitment and close cooperation from the entire
education machinery starting from the Ministry of Education, school leaders and teachers.
This indirectly makes the function of the school more important as the country expects
maximum contribution from teachers to realize it.

Therefore, in designing teacher education programs in the 21st century, the role of teachers is
not only to deliver the curriculum but also to be able to develop, define and translate it in line
with the development and dominant demands of progress today.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Teaching work is stressful. It is undeniable that the position of women today has changed a
lot in various aspects compared to the past because many opportunities such as employment,
education and so on are wide open for them to explore. Due to the increase in opportunities,
there is now more women's involvement in employment in both the private and public
sectors.

It is clear here that, although the government has made various efforts to enhance the prestige
of the teaching profession, including the introduction of the Malaysian Diploma in Teaching,
but men are still less involved in this profession. This situation causes the teaching profession
to be dominated by women compared to men. This indirectly illustrates that women teachers
have a role in coloring the direction of education to support the expectations of students,
parents and the country.

The teaching profession is actually faced with various problems related to a career as a
teacher. Basically, the problems faced today revolve around disproportionate salaries,
principal leadership, workload, unpleasant work environment, workload and so on causing
teachers to feel no job satisfaction and these problems may indirectly cause stress. Therefore,
the question arises as to whether women teachers can face the increasingly difficult
challenges with the burden of many responsibilities in their profession and get them to deal
with the problems faced so that stress does not interfere with their duties as educators of the
nation.
