III. Learning Experiences

Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

Preliminary Good afternoon class! Good afternoon ma’am!
Activities
Everybody, stand for our prayer.
Grace, can you lead the prayer? In the name of the father….

Before you take your seats, please

pick up some pieces of papers *The pupils will pick up the pieces
under your chair. of paper*

Now arrange your chairs and kindly

sit down properly.

How are you today class? We’re fine ma’am!

That’s good!

Are all present today? Yes, ma’am!

Okay, very good!
-----------------------

So class what was our lesson

last meeting? Our lesson last meeting was all
about….
Very good! Do you have any
questions about our past lesson? Non ma’am.

Okay good.

------------------------

Before we will start, I want you to 1. Listen carefully to the

recall our classroom room first. discussion.
Everybody read. 2. Participate in the class.
3. Avoid talking with your seatmate
while someone is talking in front.
Thank you, class. Is our 4. Avoid cheating during quizzes.
classroom rules clear t you
class?
Yes, ma’am!
Very good!

Motivation

Class, what can you see in the

picture? There are apples ma’am.

Who likes eating apples here? Ma’am! (raising hands)

Wow, I like apples too.

Now how many apples can you

see in the picture? 18 ma’am.

That’s right! How many rows of

apples are there? 3 ma’am!

Very good! How about the

column? 6 ma’am!
Very good!

So now class lets multiply 3 and

6. How much is it? 18 ma’am!

Very good! And 18 is the total of

apples. So what have you
noticed in adding the apples
class? We can multiply the row by its
column and can come up with
the total of apples without
counting ma’am!
Yes, very good!
Even if we don’t count them
apples one by one, we can come
up with an answer by just
multiplying it by the row and
column.

A. Activity Now class, let’s have an activity.

I will group you into three. You
need to answer the sheet below
according to what’s missing.

I will give you 5 minutes to do it

Is it clear class?
Yes ma’am!
very good!

1. 3,5, 21

2. 72, 72, 73

3. 6, 6, 12
4. 5, 5, 10

5. 7, 7&42, 49

6. 30, 5&15, 21

7. 49, 7&49, 56

B. Analysis Now class, I have another pictures

of apples here.

How many row of apples can you

see? ma’am!

Yes, Honey? Six ma’am.

Very good and how many apples
are there in a row? Ma’am!

Yes, Klint? 3 apples ma’am.

Good job! So now let us try to count

the apples by adding it by rows.

3+3+3+3+3+3 =
Is equals to what? 18 ma’am!
Very Good!

3+3+3+3+3+3 = 18

Remember that we can also use

multiplication method in adding
the apples class. We will multiply
3 by 6 or in symbol 3x6 and this
also produces, what number 18 ma’am.
class?
C. Abstractio But what are factors?
n Now class, kindly read the meaning
of factors. Factors refer to the numbers that
you multiply to get the product.
Okay very good!
So factors are the two whole
numbers that you multiply together
to get the product.

Now let’s take a look at our first

example. Again 3 and 6 are the two
whole numbers that we refer to as
the factors of 18. But the question
is, are 3 and 6 the only factors of
18? Are these the only two numbers
that we can multiply to get 18?

What do you think class? Ma’am!

No ma’am! There are more
Yes, Chloe? numbers that we can use to
multiply and get the product of 18.

Wow! Can you give us an example

Chloe to prove your answer? 1 and 18 ma’am. 1x18 is equal to
18.

12345!
Great job Chloe! Let’s give her 5
claps!
And I’ll give your group 3 balloons
for that.
Chloe is right, 1 and 18 are also the
factors of 18. So it not just 3 and 6
that we can use as the factors of 18.
So now let us arrange the apples
according to its factors.

18 apples in 1 row for 1x18.

Ma’am!

2 and 9 ma’am! 2x9= 18.

What
other factors of 18 do you think
class? 12345!

Yes, Jane?
Good job Jane! That’s right! Let’s
give her 5 claps!
And I’ll give you 3 balloons for that!
Very good Jane! 2 and 9 are also
the factors of 18.

So we have 9 apples each 2 rows

for 9x2=18.
Ma’am!
So class, these factors of 18 can
also be written using a factor tree
method. 12
Let’s take a look at this. Λ
2x6
18 18 18
Λ Λ Λ
1 x 18 2x9 3x6 Ma’am!

The factors of 18 are 1,2,3,6,9 and 12

18. So this method is called a factor Λ
tree method. 3x4

Now class, let us find the factors of Ma’am!

12 as the product of two whole
numbers using the factor tree 12
method. Λ
1 x 12
Who can try it in the board?

Okay Bob. Find a factor of 12 using None ma’am!

the factor tree method. Yes ma’am!

Good job Bob! The factors of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6 and

2x6 = 12 very good! 12.
Who else can give a factors of 12?

Yes Ken?

Very good! 3x4 = 12.

Who can give more? Yes ma’am!

Yes Lyn?

Very good! 1x12= 12.

Is there anything else that can be a
factor of 12 class?
Are you sure?

Okay so now what are the factors of Factors Product

12 class? 1x30 or 30x1 30
2x15 or 15x2 30
Good job! 5x6 or 6x5 30
So now class, we can identify the 3x10 or 10x3 30
factors of a number by simply
multiplying it and by using factor
tree method, which is a clear
illustration of finding the factors. Do
you agree class?
Yes ma’am!
Okay so now class, please bear in
mind that factors of a given number
are the two whole numbers that
The products of 30 are
when multiplied together, the result
1,2,3,5,6,10 and 15.
is the said given number.

Example, what are the factors of

None ma’am!
30?
Look at the table below and please
read. Yes ma’am!
Whatever or where ever the position
of the two numbers which are the
factors, the product will be the
same.
Understood class?

Very good! So now, what are the

products of 30?

Good! So now do you have any

questions about our discussion
today?

Are you sure?

Okay that’s great!

D. Application Let’s have an activity class.

This is by group, and you will be

having the same group as earlier.
Find the factors using theI will give you another manila paper
factor tree method. there are numbers inside and you
need to find its factors using the Yes ma’am!
1. 32 factor tree method.
2. 89
3. 14
4. 21

Am I clear class? Cooperation – 10 points

Content – 20 points
Great! After finishing your work, Explanation – 10 points
choose 1 representative to explain it Time bound – 10 points
in front. Total = 50 points

Let’s read the same rubrics again

class for you to be guided.

Yes ma’am!

Okay class, you may now start!

Did you enjoy the activity class?

That’s great to hear!

please answer the following
individually.
