2 Technical Specifications
2.2 Power
The equipment’s power is provided through a 3W3 D-sub connector (-48V, Grounding, Return – 0V), DC
input (-48/-60V +-20%) with redundancy. The equipment cabinet is directly connected to protection
grounding.
2.3 Dimensions
DXC8G-2´s main function is the data cross-connection between the interfaces. SDH cross-connection matrix
capacity is 48xVC-4, 144xVC-3 and 3024xVC-12. DS0 matrix has 384xE1 capacity.
It has two SFP STM-1/4 optical modules slots, 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet interface for management and
routing, inputs and outputs for alerts per dry contact in DB15 connector, RS232 terminal in RJ45 connector,
plus input and output for G.703 2MHz synchronism in RJ45 connector.
If two DXC8G-2 are installed in FOX515H, they may operate with redundancy. This configuration allows the
simultaneous use of four SFP STM-1/4 modules.
After this period, status indicators are turned off and the circuit card configurations are initialized. The
initialization time can vary according to the number of configured circuit cards on equipment.
LEDs assume the listed functions on Table 3, after all initialization routines.

In a female DB15 connector, it provides alarm relay contacts and can serve as an input for
ALARM
external alarms from other equipment.
ETHERNET 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet connection port used for management and routing.
SFT STM-1/4 Support SFP modules can operate as STM-1 or STM-4 through an independent path.
Table 3 DXC8G-2 Interface Ports
Attention: a power difference must not occur between DXC8G-2 RJ45 pin 4 (grounding signal) and PC DB9
pin 5. In case it occurs, damage into PC and equipment’s serial interface may happens.
Take an AC Voltmeter and measure the voltage between these pins, certificating that there is no power
difference. If there is a power difference, check if FOX515H and the PC are correctly grounded. After
equipment is correctly grounded, measure AC voltages again before connecting the serial cable.
If there is no AC voltage with the dimensions above, the serial cable can be connected. It is not necessary to
turn off equipment to connect the serial cable.
Make sure that the cable is straight for its production (e.g., RJ45 (TxD) pin 5 corresponds with DB9 (TxD) pin
2; RJ45 (RxD) pin 6 corresponds with DB9 (RxD) pin 3).
3.5 Clock
DXC8G-2 provides synchronism input and output interfaces in RJ45 connector of front panel. It has an
output interface and an input interface for 2MHz.
3.6 Alarms
Table 7 shows the connectors pin wiring of alarm’s input and output.
DXC8G-2 supplies 4 inputs for external alarms or from other equipment. The user can configure the alarm’s
inputs and its severity. Table 7 from item 3.6 describes the pin wiring.
The alarms 1 and 2´s inputs are isolated by an optical coupler. Detection of external alarm occurs when
power difference between IN+ and IN- achieves 12V. Table 8 shows the running voltages as well as the
status for alarms 1 and 2´s inputs.
Option A – The respective input pins should be connected to each other with a resistance, it is less than 10k
ohms. The configuration occurs when the other equipment’s relay output is connected (e.g. a FOX505
Multiplexer).
In case of two equipment monitoring along with FOX515H, which an output alarm is provided by dry contact,
alarms 3 and 4´s inputs should be used, respecting the following pin wiring:
Table 10 shows DXC8G-2 conduction according to the status of monitored equipment relay:
Relay Alarm
Open No-Detected alarm by DXC8G-2 module
Closed Detected alarm by DXC8G-2 module
Table 9 DXC8G-2 Relay Conduction
After physical connection, the alarm severity should be configured according to description on the Operation
Manual.
DXC8G-2 has two relays to make possible external alarms. In case of an alarm or if equipment does not
have power, relays put in short-circuit the pins 2 and 15 in output alarm 1 and the pins 4 and 13 in output
alarm 2. If there is no alarm, the pins 1 and 15 stay in short-circuit in output alarm 1 and the output alarm 2
stay in short-circuit in pins 3 and 13. Conditions of alarm severity attributed to each relay may be configured
according to description on the Operation Manual.
3.7 Ethernet
DXC8G-2 supplies 10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet connection port used for management through RJ45
connector. For further information, refer to the Operation Manual (204.0104.xx).
SFP modules provide two status indicators, which function is showed on Table 11.

The transmission characteristics, power, sensibility and estimated range can vary according to SFP module
type applied.
The data from IC32E1, IC32E1P, IC3X34/45 and DXC8G-2 interfaces can be mapped in DS0 matrix,
consolidating diverse sub channels traffic into one unique channel. DS0 matrix has 384xE1 cross-connection
capacity.
It has 2MHz synchronism input and output ports. The system synchronism can be obtained from any STM-N
port, 2Mbit/s tributary, external or internal synchronism input with holdover features.
DXC8G-2, IC32E1, IC32E1P, IC3X34/45, IC8FE155, ICGBE155 interface circuit cards and service circuit
card can be inserted or removed even if equipment is turned on or in operation (hot swap).
Up to six clock hierarchies can be defined by the user. It is proportional to passives interfaces for system
clock regeneration. There are two switching methods for application on equipment: switching per hierarchy
and per synchronism methods.
In both methods, it is possible to use non reversible mode, avoiding system damages due to intermittent
interference, or reversible mode allowing system to switch to highest priority source, providing clock to
system at that instant.
3.9.1.1 Switching per Hierarchy
This mode is based on user configured clock sources priority to define which one will be used by the
equipment.
In this mode, six hierarchies have an associate priority, where the small number hierarchy has preference for
use whenever possible.
This method has simple operation. However, it does not assure that the best existing reference will be
applied.
3.9.1.2 Switching per Synchronism Messages
The clock switching per synchronism status message is based on the existing quality indicator for each clock
hierarchy. This indicator may be automatically updated in case of SDH links or manually inserted in other
cases.
The quality indicators represent clock quality received in each hierarchy and, through this, can supply
information to the equipment, which decides what the best existing clock option is.
Within SDH network, quality indicators circulate at S1 byte from the multiplexer section and are changed by
the equipment according to faults checked at synchronism sources or network switching.
Then, the user can individually configure the input quality that will be used for each clock hierarchy and the
output quality will be sent at STM links (at S1 byte), when each one of these sources are in use. However, it
is not allowed an output quality better than an input.
If the input quality is configured as automatic mode, the reference quality will be obtained from received
message at S1; if the output quality is configured as automatic mode, the equipment will copy the input
quality value for clock output quality.
Automatic input clock quality is applied to synchronism sources with valid quality indicators only. It is only
used for synchronism sources derived from STM lines.
3.9.2 Protection
DXC8G-2 SFP interface modules allow equipment interconnection with SDH network and operate with line
protection (MSP), with SNCP or without protection.
IC32E1 circuit card provides 32 2Mbit/s interface ports, according to ITU-T G.703 recommendation, in two
TELCO64 connectors. It allows operation through a frame mode based on ITU-T G.704 recommendation. It
supplies mapping in STM-N payload, in other E1 interface or cross-connection via DS0 matrix.

Table 11 IC32E1 Status Indicators
During the start up process FAIL LED will turn lit until card gets configured.
4.3 Connectors
E1s are available by two TELCO64 connectors. 3mm coaxial cables connection with IC32E1 circuit card is
possible through TELCO64 Adaptor, dispensing BNC or IEC connectors use.
IC32E1 circuit card has LAL test facilities in interface ports. The local analogical loop is applied for circuit
analogical part test. Figure 26 exemplifies test conditions.
FrontEnd Loop test is executed in line direction and is applied for data external link test. Figure 27
represents this test.
BackEnd Loop test is executed in cross-connection matrix direction and is applied for data internal link test.
A 511 bits (29-1) pseudorandom signal is generated at BackEnd BERT test in the cross-connection matrix
direction. It is just possible to activate BackEnd BERT through a unique E1 channel at once.
