Toilet Training Troubles
Toilet training is among the most important skills a
child needs to learn.

Independent toileting is a developmental milestone


which allows individuals to fully participate in
community activities as well as to develop a sense
of personal responsibility and self-confidence.

Lack of success in toilet training is one of the


most difficult challenges for parents and carers of
individuals with special needs. Repeated failure to
achieve independent toileting frequently leads to the
mistaken belief that it is simply not possible because
the individual has a developmental disability.
