Among the indexes intended to be included here, just one has had, perforce, to be omitted: the Egyptian-English concordunce-vocabulary. As Volumes I - VU contain over a quarter-of-a-million hieroglyphic words, this would entail a full Dictionary, for which there is no room in this volume. Such a dictionary (DRI) must remain a possible future project, if limited resources so permit. Otherwise, all promised has been given. It may be said here that draft translations already exist on file for the entire contents of Volumes 1 - Vil, Publication of these is no part of this project, bur is a separate undetaking (RITA). After summary revision and annotation, it is hoped to publish the translations in corres- ponding volumes in due course - but no date can be set for this at present, It is with feetings of considerable relief that 1 greet the end of this work; and of undying gratitude towards the late Sir Basil Blackwell for shouldering its publication in the first place, und to his successor Mrs, Corinna Wiltshire and the Blackwell's team for seeing it to final conclusion, Egyptology will stand forever in their debt.
