First-curtain release: The first curtain
should release when the mirror is
3.5mm from the porous-plastic strip
at the top of the mirror box.
Sprocket timing: Take up the
sprocket backlash (by turning the
sprocket toward the rewind side)
The center of a space between
sprocket teeth should now point to
the back of the camera
Solf-timer release for long speeds:
Set 8 and the time function. Charge
the self-timer to the desired speed
setting and push the release button.
‘The second curtain should release at
the same moment as the self-timer
stops running.
Clearance, first-curtain brake lever:
Charge the shutter. There should
now be a clearance of 0.2mm
between the edge of the start cam and
the pin of the first-curtain brake lever.
ADJUSTMENT SEQUENCE:
1. Adjust the curtair
at the X speed,
2. Adjust 1/1000 using eccentric D,
travel timesFig. 1. If the adjustment does not
also bring in the speeds of 1/80, -
1/500, you can adjust D for 1/80
and C for 1/1000.
3, Adjust 1/2000 by changing the
‘width of the gap in the high-
speed cam (underside of speed-
setting assembly). Making the
gap wider results in a faster
speed.
4. Readjust the first-curtain travel
time at 1/2000 so that both
Curtains travel at the same speed.
5. Check 1/30. If too slow, the star
whee! may not be disengaging
fully. Adjust by shifting the slow=
speed governor or by changing
the gap in the lower changeover
lever.
6. Adjust 1/4 using eccentric B.
Itnecessary, you canalsousethe
pivot eccentric A.
DISASSEMBLY HIGHLIGHTS:
Note: The cover screw above the
wind lever has locking agent on the
threads. You can use heat to soften
the locking agent, but pressure will
normally loosen the cover screw

assembly, hold aside the upper
changeover lever, Fig. 6. The pin
(on the release cam (underside of

pass into the hole in the cam on
top of the curtain drum, Fig. 6.
Also, the upper pivot of the
retard-control rod must fit into
the hole in the slow-speed cam
follower.
2. After replacing the speed-setting
‘assembly, check the operation at
the slow-speed settings. If you
{get bulb action at these settings,
loosen the screws and shift the
Position of the speed-setting
assembly.
3. Replace the slow-speed
governor. Shift the position so
that the pallet disengages at 1/8

4. Release the shutter before re-
placing the front-plate/mirror-
box assembly. Also, turn the
release lever on the selt-timer,

release lever (through the front-
plate clearance hole, Fig. 3) until
the assembly seats fully.
FREQUENTLY REPAIRED
‘SECTIONS:
1. Second curtain damaged by
‘owner when loading film. To
replace the second curtain
(assembly A17), remove the
front-plate/mirror-box assem-
bly. Scribe the position of the
second curtain on the drum.
Then peel off the second curtai
You can slide the new second
curtain around the drum without
further disassembly. Be sure to
‘align the end of the second
curtain with your scribe —
there's no other adjustment for
the curtain position,
2. Second curtain (A17) or first
curtain (A16) torn along curtain
bar.
3. Lever that operates the meter-
‘switch rod (take-up lever stopper
277, Fig. 7) broken. Pulling the
wind lever to the standott
position allows the stopper to
‘move up. The meter-switch rod
then moves up, allowing the
meter switch to close. It the

‘Check by measuring the voltage
the Photomic contact, Fig. 1

3V with the wind lever in the
standoff position.
