No. Date: 2078/04/24 (8 Aug, 2021) Foreword Dialysis is a life saving procedure for chronic renal failure client where the body waste is removed through osmosis process. There are two types of dialysis as Haemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis. These comes under Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT). All human resources working in nephrology department, haemodialysis unit and dealing with renal failure must know in details of dialysis include RRT. Therefore, National Health Training Center in coordination with Nursing and Social Security Division, developed haemodialysis training package for nurses. Haemodialysis, as part of nephrology, service comes under specialized health services. According to Public Health Service regulation, 2077, the regulation and monitoring is assigned to federal and provincial government where below 25 beds are assigned to province and federal government is responsible to regulate above 25 beds for haemodialysis service. Therefore to maintain quality of services, Ministry of Health and Population, Nursing and Social Security Division, developed standard and checklist for haemodialysis services. According to this standard and minimum service standard (MSS) of hospital, there must be minimum. one haemodialysis trained nurse for two haemodialysis machine in each shift. Nepal government is committed to provide free dialysis services to improvised people under Bipanaa Nagarik aushadhi upachar program. Till date 64 hospitals/health facilities are listed under bipanna program, which is running under Nursing and Social Security Division. Our main motto is to provide quality haemodialysis services round the clock and Nurses are key health professional to provide these services. Therefore this training package as well as training helps them to enrich their knowledge and skill to provide independent and inter dependent care in all aspect of haemodialysis including renal replacement therapy.
