‘
" Specific Instructions to S E : The estimate shall be prepared as per the approved drawings and
got sanctioned 1 by.the competent authority and permission shall be obtained from the competent
authority before grounding the work. Design discharge and velocity at proposed site are
considered as 7850 cumecs and 2.277 m/sec respectively which are arrived based on hydraulic
data submitted by SE, The S E has not submitted the catchment area for the proposed site stating
that the proposed bridge is at downstream of Prakasam Barrage across a branch of Krishna River.
Hence the S E shall appraise the concerned authority of | & CAD Dept regarding considering
7850 cumecs as design discharge and also the S E is requested to ensure the maximum. velocity
as noted above using velocity meter. If any discrepancy is observed in either of them then the
same shall be brought to the notice of the competent authority for approval of modified designs
with actual data observed, befote commencement of work, duly submitting these actual
details/data.
The Hydraulic particulars of the branch of Krishna River and other data considered in

Safe Bearing Capacity : Based on the soil test report submitted by the Superintending Engineer,
Safe load carrying capacity of 1.20m dia piles are considered as above assuming that the same
soil profile, soil properties, as given in soil test reports , will be there up to bottom of foundation
level. The Superintending Engineer is requested to take necessary action to conduct pile load* tests as per | S 2911 (Part 4) and ensure that the Safe load of 1.20m dia working pile is not less
than 1.50 times the Pile capacity as noted in previous page and also the Safe load of 1.20m dia
Test pile is 2.50 times the Pile capacity as noted in previous page.

Rectangular bed block of size 6.45 X 1.275 X 0.50M is proposed for abutments in VRCC M 25
grade design mix concrete.
Return walls with counter forts shall be provided behind abutments resting on pile caps in VRCC
M 25 grade design mix concrete,
Approach Slab: Approach slab with VRCC M30 grade design mix concrete shall be provided for
a length of minimum 3.50 m with one end resting on the backing wall covering the full width of the
road way. The thickness of the slab is 0.30M with 12 dia @ 150mm c/c both ways @ top and
bottom.
Wearing Coat : Wearing coat shall be provided in VRCC M30 grade design mix concrete for an
average thickness of 0.075 m over Deck slab and approach slabs as per MOST specifications.
Weep holes: @ 1.0m cic vertically and horizontally duly staggered shall be provided as per
Appendix 6 of IRC 78-2000 in abutments and retaining walls,
Back filling: Of the abutment shall be with granular soils confirming to specifications given at
appendix of IRC-78. The value of internal friction shall not be less than 30 degrees.
Filter Media: The filter material shall be well packed to thickness not less than 600mm with
smaller size towards the soil and bigger size towards the Abutment and retaining wall and
Provided over entire surface behind abutment and retaining walls to the full height confirming to
spetifications as given at appendix 6 of IRC-78-2000.
Alignment : Superintending Engineer is requested to inspect the site before starting the work and
after alignment of bridge and check the alignment of bridge i.e., piers and abutments ete and
ensure that the bridge is aligned suitably so as not to obstruct smooth flow of water and also
ensure that the crossing is right angle crossing i.e., without skew as the bridge is designed without
skew.
The Superintending Engineer during inspection, before laying the foundation concrete
shall check the location of the vented portion Le., chainages and confirm that itis as indicated in
the approved drawings. If itis not possible to locate the vented portion as indicated in approved
drawings, then the SE shall submit the reasons that necessitated to change the location of
vented portion and cross section of stream at Proposed site with all RLs, chainages,MFL etc.,
and also duly marking/indicating/showing /locating vented portion proposed by the SE to
execute and get them approved by the ENC/ the Chief Engineer concerned before proceeding
further work
During inspection the SE shall also ensure that the hydraulic particulars ie., RLs, HFLs,
OF Ls, LBLs etc., are as per those considered in approved designs and also the type of soils,
their location/depth and SBC shall be verified during inspection as well as execution and are asper those considered in the approved designs, as per the details/data submitted by S E. If any
deviation is observed in any one of them or more than those considered in approved designs
then the modified designs for the components as per the actual details observed during
inspection/execution should be got approved by the concemed Chief Engineerithe ENC,PR
before commencement of further work duly submitting the details as observed during
inspection/execution.
The Superintending Engineer is requested to get the design mixes approved well in
advance in any standard Q. C, Lab or reputed & recognized Engineering college before
concreting with out fail
The Superintending Engineer is requested to get all the materials used for
construction checked for QC test results both at factory and at site for acceptance/permissible
. The Superintending Engineer is requested to finalise Land Acquisition, forest clearance &
shifting of electrical poles etc. if required, duly addressing the concerned competent authorities so
that there will be no stoppage of work due to these issues at a later stage.
‘The work shall be in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the bridge codes of IRC-
5, 6, 21, 78, & 89 & IS 2011-Part | (sec 2), Part IV & SP-13-2004 and SP- 20 for adopting Grade
of Concrete and other relevant IRC & IS codes and concerned circulars & G.O. s issued from time
to time. All the standard Q C tests in respect of VRCC,VCC etc have to be followed as per
concerned IS codes.
The Superintending Engineer is requested to propose the body walls /earthern
embankments for approaches, if required, based on the site conditions
Action shall be taken to clear/remove bushes/trees and raised portion of earth in the stream
portion on u/s and dis sides of proposed sites to required length and at proposed site also, if
required, in order to have smooth flow in the stream at proposed site.
Side drains and pipe culverts at dip portions wherever necessary in approaches on both
sides are to be provided in order to drain out the rain water and to safeguard the approaches.
