Sub: Operation of Special Railway Safety Fund.

Some of the Railways have raised doubts regarding powers of


General Managers to sanction works under Special Railway Safet>'
Fund(SRSF).

It is clarified that -

a) The Railways have no powers to sanction works


chargeable to SRSF and that such powers are vested only in the
Board. All such works, sanctioned under SRSF, are contained in
the 'Green Book' (Works, Machineiy & Rolling Stock Programme,
Part-Ill).
b) The Funds under SRSF must be utilized only for the
works for which such allotments have been made in the Green
Book, The Railways are not authorized to re-appropriate funds
made available under SRSF.
