TRAINEE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

An exciting opportunity exists within Guernsey Electricity Limited to train as an Electrical Engineer to ensure a
continuous supply of power is distributed to the Island, in a safe and cost effective manner, including
restoration and repair, maintenance and asset replacement projects.

The ROLE The CANDIDATE

1. To work closely with various teams within the
organization and develop a full understanding of
the work undertaken and to develop a good all
round knowledge of the organization and
industry.
2. Work with the team to maintain or quickly restore
supplies of electricity in the event of loss of supply
systems.
3. Work with the team to carry out fault finding,
investigation, repairs and modifications to the
conveyance and supply systems to ensure
reliability of all equipment.
4. Under supervision, undertake various system
related projects to improve reliability and
efficiency of supply and in accordance with the
appropriate industry standards.
 Strong academic background, preferably
holding or working towards a HNC/HND or
Honours degree in electrical or mechanical
engineering.
 Ideally will have an understanding of the
power industry.
 Experience in engineering, construction or
project delivery would be beneficial.
 A desire to work towards membership of an
appropriate engineering institution.
 Ability to communicate effectively, including
negotiation and influencing skills
 Must have strong leadership skills with
excellent oral and written communication
skills.
