1. Explain the concept of SCIENCTIFIC REVOLUTION (one paragraph ONLY). (25

points)
Scientific revolution refers to the resurrection of modern-day science. This can be
said to have happened when developments in various branches of studies, especially in
chemistry, physics, math, astrophysics and biology, completely transformed the way of
doing many things.

2. Cite the three intellectuals/contributors during Scientific Revolution Period and their
important revolutionary ideas. (25 points)
- Vesalius' pamphlet was supported by his knowledge of the blood system and he
showed clearly how anatomical dissection could be used to test speculation, and
underlined the importance of understanding the structure of the body in medicine.
- Giordano Bruno believed that the universe was infinite and populated with many
worlds. He also taught a theory of the world in which all substances are part of a
basic unity. He considered philosophy as the discipline of the elite and religion as
instruction for the ignorant.
- Tycho Brahe made accurate observations of the stars and planets. His study of
the “new star” that appeared in 1572 showed that it was farther away than the
Moon and was among the fixed stars, which were regarded as perfect and
unchanging.
