ANSWER:-
The tabular chart illustrates the data regarding variations in means of transport in England
from 1985 to 2000.

Overall, it can be seen that average distance commuted by all means of travel was
increased, with cars being the primary choice for England’s people in both years.

In 1985, people in England travelled only 13 miles through taxi however, this count
increased by around three times in 2000. Along with this, miles travelled by long distance
bus also grew by 70 in 2000. Car travel was far common than the other modes of transport
in both years, accounted for 3199 miles in 1985 and 4806 miles in 2000.

Furthermore, with an increase to 366 miles, train’s usage became third largest figure in
2000. However, average distance covered by people through walking and bicycle decreased
around 18 miles only. Although, people travelled by local bus also decreased, this mode’s
count fell drastically from 429 to 274 in 2000.

WRITING TASK 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic:
Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than
people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully
justified while others think it is unfair.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge
or experience.
Write at least 250 words.

Answer:-
In this advanced era, sports is no longer considered as a recreational activity but as a well
known profession. However, renowned athletes earn more from their profession as
compared to people in other occupations. Some people believe that it is justified but in my
opinion, this disparity is fully unfair because of some reasons.

Those people who support this viewpoint give their reason as athletes are under constant
pressure to bring laurels for their country. To make their country proud, they dedicate their
whole time towards hard practice. For instance, Olympics is the world recognized sport
event which is considered as one of the toughest platform for any athlete to compete.
Despite this, players put their whole efforts into achieving the position in such events. So,
rewarding for such hard work develops the sense of accomplishment among athletes .

On the flip side, other people who argue that providing more pay to athletes is unjust owing
to the fact that other occupations like Army, Police force are those vital professions which
cannot be compared with the sports. As in this, their lives are at stake because they are
providing the security to the citizens of the country from terrorist attacks and other
misdemeanours. For example, some army officers are serving at the borders day -night
irrespective of the tough weather conditions that they face daily. From this, it is justified
that these people should be paid more for their hardcore duties.

Furthermore, I also agree with those people who are opposing this disparity as sports
profession is not the foundation of strong nation. This is so, they are not contributing to the
crucial factors of any successful realm like healthy population, literate people. However,
professions like doctors, teachers act as core professionals who assists in fulfilling these
elements for country’s growth in terms of economy.

To reiterate my opinion, even though renowned athletes make their country notable, they
are not worthy enough to gain more than people working in professions like doctors,
teachers or forces due to the reasons mentioned.
